Congratulations to Steve Barclay, who has been returned with a very convincing majority.
Maybe Mr Barclay is destined to higher office we wait and see.
I thought it was a poor campaign on behalf of the other candidates. Not a great deal of engagement from any of them.
As standing MP with a decent majority – it was always on the cards that he would be returned.
Lets hope we see a bit more of MP Steve Barclay in Whittlesey.
Be aware some low life has stolen a gazebo in broad daylight from the rear garden on Peterborough Road, you maybe offered one.
Watch out -during last Saturdays Litter picking we came across some suspicious packages (small sealable plastic bags) along the side of the Manor Sports Centre – these bags are often used to sells ‘pills’ and other drug paraphernalia – this has been reported to the police.

Pay attention – Car doors are being tried out again in various places in Whittlesey, the perpetrators are looking for anything they can lay their grubby hands on…..unfortunately some people do not or forget to lock their vehicles – easy target….
A story that some may have read – but many may not have.
Princess Cruises – ‘Caribbean Princess’ a ship that we have sailed on as passengers, was fined a record amount of $40 million/around £32 million for illegally discharging oily water waste into the sea (off the UK). A UK Engineer whistle blew the sequence of events to the MCA (Maritime & Coast Guard Agency) who in turn referred it onto the US Coast Guard.
The cruise line, a subsidiary of the American-British Carnival Corporation, pleaded guilty to seven charges following an investigation by US federal authorities. Prosecutors said the payment represents the largest penalty imposed on any firm for deliberate pollution by a ship at sea. Parent company Carnival has also agreed to submit 78 cruise ships across its brands to a five-year environmental compliance programme as part of the plea agreement.
When I worked as the Senior Tech Engineer on Cruise ships, The Oily Water System and its calibration came under my remit, I was never asked and have never know to by-pass the system as in the ‘Caribbean Princess’ and 4 other Princess Cruise ships.
I will not be sailing with this company again – this willing deliberate pollution must have been known to the senior management of The Carnival Corporation – which also includes Cunard.

Tonights Planning Meeting considers building houses along Coates Road – this won’t happen to the applicant who – objected to the Eastrea Village Hall being build on the grounds of Traffic issues!
Just don’t get it….whilst I was picking up a great deal of rubbish/litter/bottles and cans around the picnic benches in the Manor Field this morning, dozens of ‘citizens’ were sitting and watching young children playing football, not one of these ‘citizens’ picked up any of the rubbish on the ground – it is really despondent when I see this happen.
Besides the 3 big bags I collected today – I and some friends are still only touching the surface – Someone is making this rubbish and its not me!!!!
Later on visited the Fire Stations 50th anniversary – lots of people and children.
Ever wonder why some people do not get the Cambs Times delivered – well here is a pile that been left abandoned for a number of days now – who left this.
And finally – it won’t be right if I didn’t highlight the fact that we still have one (1) toilet out of use/action after 10 weeks. I am beginning to think whether it will ever be put back into serviceable order….
As some of our councillors have quoted on a number of occasions, this won’t have happened in March or Wisbech – I wonder why I ask!

My thanks to several who enquire of the well being of our two tortoises ‘Suntan’ & ‘Timmy’
Well I can report they are doing just fine, eating and sleeping well – sleeping is their main hobby and some juicy dandelions when available.
So this week – they were given a ‘New House’ – we have been on this project for a couple of weeks…..New House – I doubt if they know the difference –

Aye Aye – What’s all this then…. Didn’t take long before they found their ‘New House’
Now with a Felt Roof, still awaiting the Chimney and Satellite Dish!
Suntan is a Mediterranean Spur Thigh Tortoise as is her friend Timmy, she is around 80+ years old and Timmy is around 50 years old – we have had them for over 40 years.
No retrospective planning permission required.
