Good News at last – Toilets could be fixed soon…..

My thanks to Cllr Dee Laws and many other Councillors for keeping having a go at FDC ref the ‘out of use toilets’ –
Officers at Fenland District Council have advised the new locks will be fitted this week.
The reason for the delay,  they have been waiting for a more robust and substantial lock system. Appreciate this will never be 100% vandal proof but an improvement to the previous public toilets locking mechanism.

Breaking News – 09:25 WTC to Buy Whittlesey Police Station

Thanks to RS

As of 9:00 on 8th May 2017 (this morning) Mr Jason Ablewhite the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cambridgeshire officially handed the keys of Whittlesey Police Station to the mayor Mr Alex Miscandlon.
The Whittlesey Town Council now officially own the Police Station which will become the Town Council Offices and be an asset for the town.

RG Note: I understand there will be a mortgage involved in this and there will need to be substantial work and cost to carry out before the building is ‘fit for purpose’ – but it is good news in the respect that there is a long term investment in the community, a centrally located building with nearby car parking.

Trending this Weekend

Firstly my apologies in advance – I am unable to attend this weeks WTC meeting as I will be in hospital first thing Thursday morning, so hopefully someone will pass what goes on!
After this weeks extremely convincing local elections, where even if you add up the combined votes for the ‘other’ candidates, the total was still very short of coming anywhere near what the Conservatives, Cllrs Boden and Connor received – we all have to respect democracy.
How ‘inconvenient’ our public toilets x 3 are still out of order….so like last week, is it now 6 if not 7 weeks they have been unusable – the latest I hear is that the company who supplied the locking system has gone out of business….so what – I just can not understand why this is such a monumental task for FDC’s environmental department – during the war – Britain built a whole ship in a couple of weeks – with toilets I might add.
I think we should start an award for this type of poor service – FDC like to get positive reviews and accolades and why not when they are deserved – but this toileting issues really is a great ‘inconvenience’!!!!!
I have been away prior to my hospital appointment Derbyshire and today in Matlock Bath where around a thousand bikers congregated for their Sunday outing, no issue with toilets here and from what I saw they all put their rubbish in the bins and they were emptied several times – well done Matlock Bath.
Maybe everyone including Councillors are concentrating on the Big issues and not addressing the smaller issues which have an equal effect….

Maybe my friend ‘Dell Boy’ could help out with the toilets and whilst at it the issues of High Causeway. He informs me that in his ‘Debt’ business he is very accommodating at extracting and getting results….

I will be confined to ‘light duties’ and somewhat housebound after Thursday.

Anyone got a story – let me know…..

Urgent reading required – Please

Last year there was an application for an ‘Anaerobic Waste Plant’ at Horsey Toll, the company ‘EnviTec Biogas’ withdrew this application in January, the picture is for illustration purposes only.

However they have re-submitted their planning application.

Below is just the headline – to read the whole article please spend 5 minutes reading some of the implications.

Please Click Here

“Erection of Gas to Grid Anaerobic Digestion Plant to comprise four digester tanks, technical operations building, silage clamp, storage lagoons, four liquid waste tanks, Gas Flare, Gas Upgrading System (GUS) and Gas Entry Unit (GEU), separator, cooling unit, transformer, heating kiosk and two underground propane tanks”

Site: “Land adjacent to Horsey Toll Farm, Whittlesey Road, Peterborough” (Peterborough Road (A605))
(Please note: Cardea is too new for this map!)

This is a huge development that involves significant amounts of waste and hazardous substances.

The site is intended as an “100,000 tonne per annum” Anaerobic Digestion Plant and  “The operation of the plant would require the import of approximately 64,000 tonnes of feedstock annually”

“A total of 24 tonnes of propane gas would be stored on site in two tanks or 12 tonnes each. “The tanks require re filling once every two weeks

In the article are a great number of concerns, finalising in that
(13) This site is Totally Inappropriate for this type of development.

A number of Peterborough Councillors and Conservative MP Shailesh Vara are all objecting and working on the case.

Whittlesey Town Council have in the past been consultees on this would be application, and I sincerely hope they will be again.

Comments close on the 20th May – and our next Full Council meeting will be this coming Wednesday 10th May, maybe Councillors could include this in any other matters (Ward concerns as the agenda would have been published).

Although I like many would like to keep an open mind about AD’s – this site as stated is in totally the wrong place – for ALL the reasons given.

Please read the article and if YOU think there are concerns – well we have (2) newly elected County Councillors to start with, including Cllr David Connor who is very versed with this type of application.

If you have not done so Please Read The Article it maybe the most important 5 minutes reading you will need to do for a while.

Election over – Congratulations & Commiserations

So it is congratulations to the winners and commiserations to the losers – that’s democracy at its best even though a poor turn out – when only 25 – 30% bother to vote.
Now of course with such a decisive majority and mandate – will they deliver on their promises – we will wait and see – of course ‘us’ within Whittlesey really hope that the delivery of the Kings Dyke Crossing will happen – when it does – everyone will be Happy – but that is just the beginning.
One thing I can guarantee is that ‘we’ will all be worse off in some respect or another financially irrespective whoever wins locally or nationally, but again that’s politics for you.
So again, candidates well done, at least you gave the electorate a choice, but I repeat 70% of the electorate didn’t bother –

News Update from Neighbourhood Policing

There has been a series of recent incidents reported to Action Fraud where a lone fraudster has approached victims whom they believe to be unfamiliar with the local area. They make an excuse to talk to the victims such as enquiring about directions or offering a recommendation for a good hotel.
After this interaction, several other fraudsters will intervene purporting to be police officers in plain clothes and will sometimes present false identification as proof. The fake officers will then give a reason to examine the victims’ wallet, purse or personal items. They may also examine the first fraudster’s items or try to tell victims that the first fraudster is suspicious in order to gain victim trust and appear more realistic in their guise.   After all the fake police ‘checks’ are finished, victims have then reported being handed back their personal items only to later realise that a quantity of money or valuables were missing.
How to protect yourself:
If an individual claims to be a police officer ask for their name and rank, force, and examine any identification presented; this is always good practice but especially important if they are not wearing a uniform.

  • The Police will never ask for your passwords or PIN details. Do not give this information to anyone.
  • The Police will never request that you withdraw/transfer any money to them or to a ‘safe’ account.
  • If you have been affected by this, or any other fraud, report it to Action Fraud by visiting www.actionfraud.police.uk

What the ?!xxxxxx!?

Thanks to PF.
I have attached photo of vehicle seen Sunday 30th April in High Causeway. The driver of the vehicle was seen coming from the takeaway with a meal which I consider a very dangerous situation. There is no doubt the driver would have had to carry out a complicated manoeuvre to get himself out of this location.
It is clear from the type of vehicle there is no way he could be delivering and especially on a Sunday evening.
When I was in High Causeway this evening there was three other parked vehicles one of which was parked whilst his passenger was in the takeaway.
I initially started to take note of vehicles in March 2016 and to date I have yet to see any police presence in this area despite the fact that I walk along this location almost every evening and have done so for the last 14 months.
If this location cannot be enforced as a pedestrian zone is it time to cover the signs so that pedestrians do not assume it is safe to walk in the area.
I am sorry to raise this issue again and appreciate that there are other priorities but I assumed that we might expect a little action after this length of time.

I know that I am not the only person to raise concerns on this matter.

Chicken Farm & Slaughter House Petition & Anaerobic Waste Plant Update

Please be aware of the Planning Application. Huntingdon & Peterborough Councils

1 May 2017 —
EnviTec Biogas have made the decision that their application should be decided as it stands. Which means, there will be a council committee meeting to decide the outcome. This will occur any time from July (please note the committee does not sit in August). Once a date is confirmed the council will inform all parties who submitted an opinion and advertise, but we will of course provide an update for anyone interested in attending (please note that only advanced appointed persons are able to address the committee).

More information can be found by Clicking Here

Peterborough City Council has been notified that Huntingdonshire District Council are in receipt of a revised planning application for a Poultry Farm & Slaughterhouse at Kings Delph Drove. Application No 12/01847/OUT

The proposed site for this poultry farm and slaughter house is only several hundred metres from some residential properties in Cardea and Farcet and not much further from Park Farm and Stanground.

We have serious fears about the likely impact of the facility on residents amenity in terms of odour, pollution, the fact the area is a flood plain and that this is something that will likely cause more congestion at what is already a nightmare of a junction of Whittlesey Road and Ramsey Road towards Pondersbridge should HGV drivers find Farcet Village and Yaxley too difficult a route to the A1.

This application is both emotive and controversial –
It is a different application to that at Horsey Toll Farm which was for Anaerobic Waste Facility – (This appears to have gone off the Radar for the time being)

See Cllr Chris Harper Website
