Breaking News – Camper Van Man has moved….

Thanks to LK who informs me this morning that Camper Van Man has moved to where – do not know as yet. It would ‘appear’ that FDC’s letter yesterday may have had some result.

More on Camper Van Man

160401-03AIt may well be no bodies business re Camper Van Man on Eastgate/Grosvenor Car Park! as quoted by a Street Lifer© – Wrong  – Rules and Laws are for us all, as my previous posts on this subject, the signage for the ‘New Car Park’ is missing. I have had today correspondence from FDC –
“Our Engineering Team are organising new signage for all our car parks, to advertise the parking restrictions.
We are going to deliver a letter to the owner of this Camper Van today asking him to remove his vehicle.
Our CCTV have advised us that they do not believe anyone is living in this vehicle.
Street Scene Officers and CCTV will continue to monitor this vehicle”

This afternoon the vehicle was taking up ‘only’ (1) space in the corner of the car park.
There are pros and cons with this ‘issue’
1/ It may only now take up (1) space, but what is to stop Camper Van ‘friends/mates’ coming and parking up semi-permanently? If (1) is allowed then nothing to stop more coming.
2/ If/when Camper Van Man decides to move – well it could end up parked outside my or your house. It is taxed/insured & has mot – it can legally park where it is not causing an obstruction…..

Camper Van Man has a sticker in the window – ‘Home is where you park it’
There is evidence of a FDC sticker on the windscreen…

Small Short Update

I am just as frustrated over the ‘inactivity’ of FDC in getting the Camper Van moved off Grosvenor Car Park, there are lots of people just as concerned.
Our FDC Street Scene Officer is off on compassionate leave, and this morning I have contacted one of the Senior Street Scene Officers to make him aware.
Of course there is a ministerial visit by the Communities Minister Greg Clark  – yes you might have guessed ‘Wisbech’, too look into proposals for 10,000 homes and Garden Town status….fat chance of a piddling issue in Whittlesey being addressed then?
Several councillor are aware of the ‘issue’ – why can they not get things moving please…..

I’ll update about the ‘challenges’ of a Neighbourhood Plan over this coming weekend.

In the meantime please see another scam..

What is a ‘Neighbourhood Plan?’

Whittlesey Town Council are in the process of putting together a ‘Neighbourhood Plan’
The complexities are beyond the remit of myself. It is a long process, there is a ‘link’ on the WTC Website which at present is empty.
My knowledge is limited but I picked up a leaflet last week when at meeting in Wisbech, from ‘ACRE’ ® they help (for a fee) for Town and Parish Councils to process the paperwork for a ‘Neighbourhood Plan’ to be in place.
March Town Council are well forward with their plan, and a link below to their website may help ‘some’ of these complexities.

It is my belief that WTC are still someway off getting all the criteria together before they can submit their Neighbourhood Plan.

I might of course suggest, that should anyone be interested, they contact there own Councillor (All details on the WTC Website) and see if their Councillor can explain, what the benefits of a Neighbourhood Plan is.

Fenland District Council has a ‘Core Strategy Plan’ in place, and all Town and Parish Councils are part of that plan.

There are various ‘tools’ and information by searching for example ‘Google’©
Neighbourhood Planning.

If you have a ‘few’ days to spare, it may prove interesting reading material.

The March Plan is 78 pages long, it was prepared by McKenzie Town Planning Ltd
(Mr McKenzie being an ex employee of FDC – Planning Dept)

If you read the above ‘Plan’ it will give an ‘idea’ of what is trying to be achieved!

Another Good Rubbish Clearing Event

Yesterday went out with the team of Street Priders … I have stated that our town is reasonably clean and tidy, this because we have at present two excellent street cleaners, plus a few of us that do our bit.
Rubbish and Litter is made by ‘people’.
There is on-going experiments, to show the effects of when one side of a street is cleaned and the other side left. After a few days the difference can clearly be seen and after a week a major difference can be seen.

Here is SP Chairmans e-newsletter from yesterday.
SP 160327-01A

Easter Saturday and most people are heading for the coast or visiting friends.
Not so Whittlesey Street Pride! There were thirteen of us who turned out on a very cold and windy day to clear the rubbish from Ramsey Road. There was plenty of it too, twentyeight bags of rubbish,a car door a car radiator, concrete post and other fly-tipped items. All found among the trees along that road.
Thank you all of you, again an excellent turnout and a good result – well done.
