Between Friday 5th January 2018 at 17:00pm and Saturday 6th January 08:00am the Whittlesey Recycling Centre on New Road was broken into and 2 X cash boxes were stolen. If anyone has any information please call 101 and quote crime number CF0010550118

In the Early hours of 4^th January 2018 at 200 Benwick road (the livery yard where we keep our horses) thieves entered via the fields behind and stole a small tractor and tools from the workshop. They left evidence in the form of tyre tracks across the field and we do not know if they left any fingerprint evidence.
This was reported to the police but they were not interested in attending to look at the evidence and only gave a crime number to the owners of the yard over the phone and will not be investigating.

REMINDER – Notice from Peterborough CC Highways Streetworks Department.

The planned programme of works will go ahead from Monday 8th January 2018 from Half Penny House through to the Motorpoint junction.

Pearce’s Road will be closed for 2 weeks.  The road will be open to local access but road is closed to through traffic.

I presume Pearces Road through Storeys Bar Road to Motorpoint.
Two Weeks – looks like a lot of traffic on the A605 then…..Plan ahead if you can.

My thanks yesterday for the valued time of Cllrs Boden and Whitwell at their surgery giving me a full 45 minutes of updating me on various questions and updates I asked for.
One being the for-ever ongoing communication issues regarding ‘closing’ of either the B1040 towards Thorney or the North Bank Road – More on this later.

I am grateful to Cllr D Laws for informing me of the following this morning:-

Good News – North Bank Road, Peterborough is open.
Received a call from the Environment Agency to say the situation is improving and The River Nene is falling steadily and they do not expect any further flood water on North Bank Road at this time.

There may be standing water in low lying areas and fields for several days. The Environment Agency with Peterborough CC Highways will continue to monitor the situation.

The Motorcycle headed towards the camera was travelling at some speed triggered the ‘double flash’ – however since motorcycles do not have front number plates – I doubt if said rider was concerned.
It was difficult to estimate the speed but he was going very fast…..
The white car in front was doing the same speed as myself 33 mph

My apologies – did anyone miss my ‘jottings’ – I doubt it!
Well I’ve had ‘Bronchial Pneumonia’ – diagnosed through a private consultation at £140+ as I felt guilty going to my own doctors with what I thought was a cold/flu – I am beginning to feel guilty now when-ever I feel rough.
So after a month of feeling very poorly indeed I am ‘nearly’ back to some sort of normality.

So lets leave last year with 200+ postings to keep the electorate/public informed of factual events and happenings in and around our area.

Today we must of course start with the ‘Fact’ that NO notice was given that the North Bank Road was closed until you/I got to the Dog-In-The-Doublet – our Council Website has NO notification and of course Cambs Highways has said nothing.
We live in the in the Twentieth Century and still lacking ‘any’ technology to inform the motorist.
Of course we had ‘Gates’ installed for a very short time before they were ‘vandalised’ and have as yet not been re-instated.
Is no one ashamed over this issue – if not they should be.

I’ve been informed that ‘some’ low live has had a go at the plate glass window of the ex -‘Ostlers’ shop – this happened a while ago.
There has been a break-in in Braemar Gardens (Off Ramsey Road)

Since the North Bank Road may or may not be open to traffic the A605 backed up all the way to the Fire Station at Stanground Round-about for nearly 2 hours this evening…

I did ‘just’ manage our 1949 Classic Car Tour of Havana/Cuba – with a few stops

Now I could really spread what the owner of Morleys Old Garage/Petrol Pump site told me recently – of plans he had for the site….but I’m not going there until I see some proof.

I/we are more than open to anyone else’s practical, cost effective and simple solution.
