The Masterplan – In the making – For the future….

Many would have seen the article in the PT™© with reference to the ‘Masterplan’

Although I have not been directly involved in the consultation of this very ambitious ‘plan’ – ( I have attended meetings where it has been discussed) – some would call it ‘dreams again’ – sometimes ‘we’ need aspirations (not dreams) and to have NO plan what-so-ever is a plan for disaster….not future.
So whilst I accept and thank those who were involved in this document –

I and many other commentators are somewhat sceptical and cynical of ‘what’ is actually achievable – living in the real world.
Example – moving the ‘Market’ – unfortunately our Friday Market has been in serious decline for a number of years, it has been tried – to no avail in regernerating it… most Fridays 3 stalls is the norm. To ‘try’ and move it to the High Street – again is not very practical – it is suposed to be a pedestrian zone – I suggest both FDC and the Combined Authority sort this out first – as on most days and worse on Fridays of numberous motorists and ‘Van Men’ flaunting the exsisting law – putting pedestrians at risk – I doubt if placing a few market stalls will make any difference.

(At this moment in time)….!!!! – Watch this space….

Want To Help – Plant More Tree’s

Some of us are very passionate about preserving and maintaining our Tree’s and Wildlife…
I do not consider myself ‘A Tree-Hugger’ but like to think my friends and I do make a small difference…..
Last year besides trying to look after our environment – Connie & I sponsored over 100 tree’s to be planted and hope we will do the same this year.

(Sometimes – there is a lot of talk and very little action – see next posts)

Demand climate action with trees and woods
Help make our Emergency Tree Plan recommendations reality.

Urge government to take action

Governments at all levels have to sit up and take notice now before it’s too late. Join us in asking your decisions makers to embed our Emergency Tree Plan recommendations in policy now.

Someone Asked – Here is the Answer….

The answer to the question – how does Whittlesey Crime Statistics compare with other area’s – well below is the comparison maps of Whittlesey, March, Wisbech and Peterborough – Lastest Stats for December 2019 – Of course Peterborough and Wisbech area’s and population are much greater than Whittlesey.
There are Yearly statistics and will publish these at a later time.

I am NOT making any excuses on behalf of the Police – The Police and Crime Commisioners remit is to ‘Hold the Chief Constable’ to account regarding Policing in our area. There will be a P&CC election in May of this year – last time less than 20% voted.
I regularly ‘ask’ difficult questions to our Police and PCC – ?

So it is your democatratic right to Vote and hold the Police & Crime Commisioner to account if you think either ‘He’ or ‘Chief Constable’ are not doing their job.

The detection and clear up statistics are pretty dismal reading – but that is more or less the same all over the country.

Travellers @ Whittlesea Railway Station – Car Park

The swift removal has been achieved by the good communication & relationship between Fenland District Council Travellers Officer,  David Bailey and the Railway Police.
(Cllr Dee Laws)
The cleansing team will now go down and clear up any mess. (WTC)
Below is ‘some’ of the rubbish ‘they’ left last time….

I’ve done the survey – I invite you to do the same…..

A short survey (about 2/3 minutes maximum)
Cambridgeshire Road Safety Partnership Survey.

This survey could have a big influence on how ‘Cambridgeshire’ priorities its services,
I was a little confused as a couple of the questions had no relationship with road safety!!!

The Cambridgeshire Road Safety Partnership are undertaking a review of local Road Safety governance, strategy and delivery.
To this end they have commissioned a survey to gain an insight in to the concerns, needs and desires of the people of the county.
The survey is open for a relatively short period of time and they would like as many people as possible to complete it. To help with this, can you please:

* Complete the survey yourself
* Promote the survey as widely and as often as possible within the county

The link to the survey, which closes on 6th February, is
https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/33PW2/

Many thanks for your help in this matter,
The Cambridgeshire Road Safety Partnership.
Mike Brooks (Police, Watch Co-Ordinator, Cambridgeshire)

Back to Zebra One…(Again)

I’ve received a couple of complaints about the ‘Zebra Crossing’  at the junction of High Causeway/Eastgate. In 2018 (before I was re-elected) I highlighted the problem/issue to our CC Cllr David Connor – who to be fair did follow this up on several occasions.
It took 8 months to get ‘some’ paint put on our ‘Zebra’s’ – with all the usual excuses…
Cost/Surveyed/Wet Weather/Too Cold/Wrong Time of the Year…. 8 Months….
18 months later the same issue has returned…..So I/we now start the process off again – remember it is January and ‘Cold’ – Maybe just maybe it will take a ‘little’ less time to fix – Please….

Below the current state of The Zebra and as it was in August 2018

Get Ready for Further Disruption…

Further to my posting of the 15h January – Severe Disruption Is Coming….
https://roygerstner.co.uk/2020/01/15/severe-disruption-is-coming/

The B1095 is to be closed in and around Peterborough for four weeks as works progress on ending a notorious bottleneck.
The road will be closed all day every day from the junction with the A605 Whittlesey Road, beginning on Monday, February 17, with traffic diverted through Farcet.
This is due to a scheme to install a designated lane to turn right on the A605 towards Pondersbridge.

4 weeks from 17th February….be prepared for a lot more traffic along Ramsey Road/Church Street & Peterborough Road.
