For many years, the railway level crossing at Kings Dyke has caused tailbacks and frustration for many motorists facing delays. Working with local councillors we built the case for funding which was finally confirmed in full this year by the Combined Authority. Work is now well-progressed on the project which is due to be open for motorists by the end of 2020.

Kings Dyke update – 18-6-19

I was very concerned to learn there is a further delay on the Kings Dyke crossing.  I am working with Cambridgeshire County Council to understand how this has happened.  The Council is currently considering recently received and revised projections on costs and timings from its contractor, Kier, before it assesses options available to move this important project forward. It will continue to do this in full consultation with the Combined Authority.

The delays at the level crossing are a great source of frustration for Whittlesey residents and businesses and I have been assured by the Leader of Cambridgeshire County Council, Cllr Steve Count, that he is actively taking steps to ensure that the Combined Authority and County Council work together constructively to progress this important infrastructure project as quickly as possible for the benefit of Whittlesey and the whole of Fenland. I will be monitoring progress very closely to ensure the work continues to move forward.

We’ are now informed that 2022 was always the case under the latest revised/version of the Kings Dyke project…..Hang on a minute, how many times have we heard of a ‘revised’ timescale….!!!!

I count at least 6 versions of when the Bridge may be build – sometime before some of our ‘Senior’ elected representatives were actually even elected…..?
I certainly hope that there is No performance related Bonuses for ‘delivering’ this project…..
(RG)

Proposed work on the A605 Kings Dyke level crossing closure has been put back yet again, this time until at least the end of 2022.

(RG) This ‘present’ plan/scheme began in 2013 – Somewhat bewilderment – It takes nearly 10 years (that is of course if it is delivered by 2022) to build a 80 metre bridge…not 800m or 8kms but 80 metre.

The European Health Insurance Card is issued free in the UK by the NHS. You can apply independently and free of charge by visiting the official website.

Beware of scam websites!
An EHIC card is FREE but some services charge to help you apply. These are unnecessary and it’s important for UK consumers to know that they do not need to use them.

From time to time the UK European Consumer Centre gets a spate of complaints from consumers who have been charged for making an EHIC application. You can apply for an EHIC by contacting the NHS or via the official EHIC website free of charge.

The practise of charging for services that can be obtained free of charge is NOT prohibited in any way. The UK ECC urges consumers to ensure they use the official source if they want to prevent payment of unnecessary fees.  The NHS website currently looks like this (December 2018)
