Is There A Problem With The Sun Newspaper !!!!

The Sun™ Newspaper has upset (again) many thousands of Neighbourhood Watch Co-Ordinators and Members by claiming they are ‘snitchers’ over the Covid-6 rules…..
We (NHW) are not ‘curtain tugger’ or snitchers, I am very proud that our group, like many are supporters of our communities, being good neighbours and better neighbours.
Our role is to help, support and liase with the public and police.
I would hope that the readers of this web-blog are better than reading The Sun™ Newspaper – legal action against the newspaper has begun.

You will no doubt be aware of the unauthorised use of the Neighbourhood Watch logo by the Sun newspaper today.

To re-assure you that we are also aware of the image and article and have been in contact with the Sun and complained to both the ombudsmen and the Sun, both about the use of our trademarked logo and very negative portrayal and implication of NW members and the organisation as snitches rather than the reality which is focused on crime prevention and community strengthening, cohesion and resilience.

We will keep you informed of developments and what support we may need on this matter.
Yours Sincerely
John

CCG AGM Report

https://www.cambridgeshireandpeterboroughccg.nhs.uk/

The AGM of Cambs & Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group took place yesterday.
I was one of only a few members of the public who attended this meeting, I have done so for several years.
The usual reports took place, with some ‘upbeat’ news that the deficit for the year was £74+ million – Chairman Dr Gary Howsan was very positive in the respect of safety of both staff and patients in regards to Covid-19.
Dr Howsan stated that patients should not be affraid of contacting their doctors and make it ‘seem’ that this was a simple process….
I did state that here in Whittlesey (NQS) that reports we have received that this was not the case and that seeing a Doctor was perceived as quite a difficult operation.

Soon to be Gone….St Mary’s Parish/Church Hall

Looks like a clean up before building begins….a long time coming to tidy up another part of our Town Centre… Built 1900 – I do remember some events being held there many years ago.

Virtual Meeting With Police & Crime Commissioner

The agenda was published earlier.
Also present was sector Inspector (Fenland) Lombardo and Neighbourhood Sergeant Lugg.
I was one of only a very few Councillors within Fenland who attended this first virtual meeting.

Therefore I was given plenty of opportunity to ask questions of the Inspector….
The main one being ‘enforcement of Covid-19’ related issues…..The Inspector stated that there is a nationwide policy from the Police so that there is consistency throughout the country…..I stated that Covid was a ‘killer’ and that there is a smallish element of people who discard and disrespect any rules or restrictions, again the Inspector quoted the national guidelines…however enforcement would be carried out if deemed appropriate.

The amount of money being scammed from people within Cambridgesghire is quite frightening…£7,0000,000 this year alone.

Latest Scam News

I have just received a report of an attempted scam, in which the caller was pretending to be a Police Sergeant within Cambridgeshire Police.

Below is an overview from the report itself, fortunately no money was lost in this instance.

Please remember, Cambridgeshire Police or any police service or bank will not call you and ask you to read out your bank card details or provide your bank account information. This and variations thereof are a scam.

STOP – CHALLENGE – REPORT (www.take5-stopfraud.org)

Just because the caller knows your name or some other information, this does not make them genuine. Criminals steal data and use it to appear genuine.

This is to report a telephone call which has disturbed me.

At #### today someone rang me on my landline. The number he rang from was withheld.  He checked my name and my address and then said he was ringing from Cambridgeshire Police.  When pressed he said his name was Sergeant Smith.

What he said was that at 09:00 am this morning, Cambridgeshire Police had arrested a Sharon Saunders who was using a visa debit card in my name.

Feeling severe doubt, I said I’d check my purse. An action which seemed to me to be risk free, so I did and told him all my cards were present and correct.  At which point he said, “What colour is that card?”.
I made disbelieving noises, at which point he abruptly ended the call.

PCH Car Parking Fee’s Re-Introduced

Having been a member of The North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust for some 10+ years –

I am kept up to date in what is happening within our hospitals and Clinical Commissioning Group
(Who fund all medical services within Cambs) –

I will be attending (virtually) both AGM’s in the next couple of weeks…as far as I am aware I am the only local Councillor to attend both groups on a regular basis and of course if anything to report will be posted on this web-blog….

Locally ‘we’ have a Patients Participation Group at New Queen Street Surgery.
(None at Jenner at present).

It is hoped that the PPG will re-emerge from ‘hibernation’ in the near future.

It is a very important group that provide a conduit and communication route between patients and the surgery.
