Summer News-Letter PCC

I am pleased to report that Whittlesey Neighbourhood Watch Group, have been part of several initiatives contained within Acting Police & Crime Commissioners News Letter.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 restrictions, we have been working behind the scenes in many area’s in/around Whittlesey & Villages….our group have supported well over a hundred elderly and vulnerable residents on a very regular basis.
This is now easing and to their credit many of the NHW Co-ordinators are still maintaining ‘their’ Good Neighbour engagements.

Report ON WTC Planning Meeting – Wednesday 01st July

The agenda for last nights meeting was published on this web-blog – 26th June 2020
Whittlesey Town Council act only as consultee’s on planning matters, the decision making rests with Fenland District Council Planning Committee or in some cases delagate powers to officers.

I declared that I had been lobbied by a number of residents both within the ward I represent (St Mary’s South) and neighbouring wards, in respect of F/2015/18/CW
Saxon Pit.

One member of the public Mr Andy Stimson  spoke about F/YR20/0471 – Erection of 168 dwellings at former Eastfield Nursey, Eastrea Road.

I spoke on the planning application for The Saxon Pit – I informed the rest of the planning committee some of the main points contained in the 48 page report.
Unfortunately I am not able to copy the report here.
However it contained some very good plans, addressing all aspects of the restoration along with excellent proposals both Ecological and Biodiversity.

The applicants are keen to be able to use material from the impending Kings Dyke Bridge construction, this will have a big effect on having to obtain materials from much further afield.

Whittlesey Business Forum Meeting – ZOOM….

At last nights  ZOOM video streaming meeting 13 members attended, this is the first meeting held on the platform since the COVID-19 restrictions came uinto effect.
The meeting mainly discussed how to support and promoted ‘Local Businesses’ in our town now that most will be able to trade as from 04th July.
‘The Shop Local’ campaign with various advertising is ongoing, and it is really important that local bussinesses are supported…..otherwise it will be Use It or Loose It…..

Please note – I do not own or run any business – I have been a member of the Whittlesey Business Forum since it was re-established – I campaign to promote our local businesses and to network with the owners.
