First Customer Caught – Noisey Exhaust…
| In a previous E cops message I informed you of a new device to gauge exhaust noise has been acquired by Cambridgeshire Police. It has now been effectivity trialled, and a owner of a anti social exhaust system has received a fine relating to this issue. This pro active campaign will be continuing in the future. Complaints of noisy vehicles are reported regularly, and these reports have resulted in these patrols. Pcso J. Hall |

What A Great Pity – Some Spoil It For The Rest
As a small Council – Whittlesey Town Council try and make our lives and leisure as safe and pleasant for all – why is it that a small number have to spoil things for the rest of the community.
I am talking about the recent vandalism at the Manor Field.
Our Town Council installed several ‘Picnic Benches’ at various locations around the field, these are very well used in good weather (some drop their rubbish on the ground – but thats another issue).
Recently several benches were seriously vandalised – there are costs involved as these damaged benches have to be made safe, will probably have to be taken out and removed at Whittlesey rate-payers expense.
I/we as a Council do not give in easily and will look at replacing the benches maybe next year – I/we will look at how to fund this with as least cost to the rate-payer.
If you witness any anti-social behaviour I would encourage you to report it to the Police on 101 or on the cambs police website… https://www.cambs.police.uk/report/Report

You Can Do Your Bit…..
With organised events of cleaning up & litterpicking in our area for over 10 years by the Whittlesey Street Pride Group – they can not at present safely carry out such events.
There are many of the group (including myself) who have ‘Carried On Regardless’ by doing our own regular litterpicking…..however there is nothing stopping the many keyboard warriors in doing their bit….

Getting Back Slowly – Manor Leisure Swimming Pool
Like everything since March this year, the ‘new norm’ is taking some getting used too.
As I posted previously many ‘regulars’ at both the Manor Gym and Swimming Pool were so happy when ‘Freedom Leisure’ was allowed to re-open.
Small steps in hours of opening, I did post up ealier this week the Swimming Pool Time-table.
I am pleased that Cllr David Mason lobbied very hard on behalf of the ‘Dolphins Swimming Group’ to have their sessions available again, abeit under slightly different rules. I also supported this initiative will Cllr Mason.
So another small but significant result.

My Thanks To The RBL – Whittlesey – Merchant Navy Day
Many thanks to the Whittlesey Branch of The Royal British Legion – who kindly ‘few’ the Red Ensign for me (and all the other merchant seamen) on what is known as Merchant Navy Day.
Having spent 28 years in the Merchant Navy – I and many of my ship mates were involved in supporting our military and country.
Unfortunately I was unable to attend the war memorial today – photo is a file picture.
More men were lost at sea than in any of the other ‘armed forces’
The BBC Newsreader Hew Edwards did a very good piece on Monday about his Grandfather being in the MN
