In the lead up to Road Safety Week (18 to 24 November) we would like to hear your views on where you feel speeding is an issue in Cambridgeshire?

As part of the week, our officers will be out in force targeting drivers who choose to put themselves and others in danger by breaking the limit

Please share your views with us by clicking on the below link and filling out our short survey. We will review the answers and crack down on your community’s speeding hotspots.

Parking – Parking & Parking…

As I have done ‘dozens’ of posts on this subject and I always state it is a very ’emotive subject’ – for every complaint there is someone who disagrees for what-ever reason.
I ‘hear’ that FPN’s (Fixed Penalty Notices) have been given out in the Queen Street area of the town.
Let me ‘explain’ yet again for those who may have ‘missed’ the dozens of previous article.

At present ‘The Police’ within Fenland are primarily responsible for vehicles untaxed or parked illegally on the highway.
The DVLA enforcement are also able to do so and to remove/clamp vehicles none-compliant.
Vehicles parked in FDC’s car parks – presently are the responsibility of FDC.
I hear and am told for ever the ongoing issues of ‘illegal & inconsiderate’ parking throughout the whole of Whittlesey.

I have lived besides/along Ramsey Road for 40+ years and am very well aware of the for-ever concerns/issues/speeding/parking/littering etc etc….

All Fenland towns are more or less the same.
FDC are currently looking into the de-crimilisation of Parking within Fenland.
Enforcement will then be FDC’s responsibility

Update – The Eastrea Village Memorial Bench

Further to my previous post….
I am grateful to David Denson Secretary – (For the article)
The Whittlesey Branch of the Royal Anglian Regiment Association Cambridgeshire.

RB – Thanks for the Photo’s……

The Whittlesey Branch of the Royal Anglian Regiment Association Cambridgeshire have undertaken to obtain 5 Memorial Benches. This project is being led the Branch Chairman, Bob Wicks, assisted by Branch members. It is proposed that

these are installed in Whittlesey (2 No), Eastrea, Coates and Pondersbridges.

The cost have been raised from various sources including Tesco, Regimental Associations, and a donation from an anonymous local Whittlesey Company.
The Branch has also provided (separate funding) memorial roses in similar locations,

As you will known, more than most, for both these projections to happen a number of people have provided time and materials free.

I would also mention that the Branch welcomes and represents Veterans from difference Branches of the Armed Forces and all are welcome.

More details can be obtained from Bob Wicks.

Royal British Legion Concert – Wonderful

The local branch of The RBL put on a wonderful concert last night – with The Peterborough Concert Band along with the Peterborough Pipers & Drummers, providing some foot tapping music, in aid of raising funds comemorating the 75th Anniversay of D-Day
A very well attended and supported evening at The Ivy Leaf Club.
Thank you again to the RBL Team for organising the event.

Myself along with Whittlesey Town Councillors, Eamonn Dorling and Ray Whitwell attended and supported the ‘Fenland Local Plan’ exhibition at The Library.
A few ‘interested’ people came and asked questions.
You can read more and fill in the questionnaire online by going to the link I placed on the post of yesterday below.
