Fly Tipping removed from Fengate-Storeys Bar Road

I have been informed that 6 x 20 ton skips were required to remove all the Fly-Tipped material previously reported and that concrete bollards have been put across the access.
Problem is that these people will now find a ‘new’ place and another poor landowner or council tax payer will pick up the bill.
Still after a concerted lobby by a lot of people at least this load has disappeared – for the time being.

No update on Vandalised Toilets

It has been a few weeks now since all (3) toilets behind The George became unusable. It is my understanding that the locks were vandalised on all 3 toilets.
The only public toilet available is the disabled toilet.
I did make enquiries at WTC and was told that it is in hand with Fenland District Council who are responsible for the public toilets.
Last year when one of the toilets was vandalised by a small fire it took nearly 8 months for it to be repaired and put back into operation.
Lets hope it doesn’t take as long this time.
The ‘excuse’ from FDC was that the supplier of the toilets had go out of business.

A Friend for Life

How nice to see my friend Paul B – who I have known for more than his 40+ years.
What a breath of fresh air talking with him.
He always remembers me and always asked about Connie.
I asked Paul how old he was now – he said he couldn’t remember – Bless him.

Youths in Trouble

Why is it that ‘ordinary people’ can not understand how and why Police and Justice system get things wrong or forever ramming home their political correctness.
Today long time Youth Offender ‘ Albie Burrell’ gets an ASBO – big deal – the exclusion zone that he is ‘banned from’ excludes most of Station Road and the Manor Field.
‘Sergeant Lugg’ said “Burrell’s behaviour has had a significant impact on the community over a long period of time’ I don’t know of Sgt Lugg or whether he has ever been to Whittlesey.
Today whilst transiting The Bower – Litter Picking I saw what appeared to be two innocent looking teenagers, on engaging in conversation – I learnt that ‘MacKenzie was in Whittlesey due to his ASBO in Newmarket and was here staying with his Grandmother, the 17 year old pregnant girlfriend had travelled from Gravesend to meet up with him for the day. They were both smoking some smelly tobacco which I presumed was some sort of Hash – I have a covert picture of Mr Mackenzie (I probably have broken the law and will be arrested) and asked him to behave himself whilst in Whittlesey and take his anti-social behaviour back with him to Newmarket.
We have enough of our own Riff-Raff with out importing more from far afield.
Of course some of our councillors think it wrong to mention that Anti-Social-Behaviour is ‘mainly’ caused by young people – I am not saying ALL ASB is caused by them but a hell of a lot is.
By the way I collected a full bag of rubbish/cans/bottles from around the Skate Park – it didn’t get there by itself – and I had been there 2 days ago?

Still there were ‘some’ better things happening in the Manor/Bower.
An excellent blood donor session was well attended and one of our resident swans came for a look – I haven’t seen its mate for a long time.

Vulnerable Man – Whitmoor Street

Around 16:40 today I saw this man – Whitmoor Street – Windmill Street. I spoke to him and he just about responded – he ‘seemed’ either very drunk or suffering from substance abuse.
I have reported to the Police.

There were NO prospective candidates for Cambs County Council elections present – but then again I wasn’t expecting any? – that shows how interested ‘they’ are in Whittlesey.

Excellent CCVS Networking @ WIsbech

I have been invited and attended these ‘Round-Table’ – Networking Workshops on many occasions in the past 7 years. Today we met the new interim CEO Julie Farrow, amongst other attendees were Terry Jordon Clerk to Wisbech Town council and Rebecca Robinette FDC’s StreetPride Co-Ordinator.
I was as usual the only attendee from Whittlesey!

There is a lot of support and ‘Money’ – channels which the CCVS can access and point community groups, with help in making anything from small applications to large ones from the Lottery Fund.
