Another Good PPG Meeting

A good attendance and a short meeting for a change! – One piece of feedback from the Practice Manager was about the ‘new’ telephone appointment system, it has increased the capacity for doctors to see more patients, many of the attendee’s at this evenings meeting gave very positive feedback from the experiences they had received.
Fortunately I have not had to see the Doctors for some time now so can not comment first hand.
The New Queens Street Surgery Flu Clinics have still not been finalised, however the dates of 20th & 27th October maybe pencilled in and once confirmed I will update.

Merchant Navy Day – 03rd September

Again may I thank the Royal British Legion, for ‘Flying The Red Ensign’ – to us ex Merchant Navy Seafarers known as ‘The Red Duster’
Not a lot of wind today but here in Whittlesey a great number of local men went and served in 2 World Wars and several conflicts afterwards, never to return.
Today is a day to remember them.

Old TSB Building – to become – Granite Transformations

Sorry about the quality of pictures, it was a rush job.!!!

The old TSB Building on Queens Street has signage in the window/door stating it is planning to open at the end of September, the company is known as ‘Granite Transformations’ and do kitchens and other home improvements, they were as far as I am aware, based in Peterborough.
The signage is not very professional and a bit Spartan on information.
There is at this time no change of use in planning for this building, not sure if it is actually required.

Utmost Vigilance is Needed – NOW

This week (2) more distraction burglaries have taken place  and this afternoon on/off Station Road Whittlesey…

I’ve just had a strange man enter my house. He came through the side gate and let himself in through the back door. making the excuse of Asking if I wanted my drive tarmacing. Luckily I was sat in the living room and told him to get out. I called the police and they came out straight away so he must be known to them. He is a white British male in his late 40s with grey hair. At the time he had a red adidas t -shirt, grey tracksuit bottoms and a black satchel. I just cant believe the damn right nerve of some people. It scared the crap out of me! Be vigilant people!

Good News – Whittlesey Railway Station

Some small but significant news re – Upgrades to Whittlesey Railway Station, consultations over and some £360,000 on a 2 year study, we now hear that, Whittlesey Railway Station will get an extended platform and better car parking.
The next public meeting – Hereward Community Rail Partnership to be held at Fenland Hall on 19th September – I hope to attend.

No mention of a better rail service with more trains stopping at Whittlesey – but lets wait and see if there is any update at the meeting.
