Trolls on Local Social Media are WRONG

I have been asked to comment about the ‘postings’ on local Whittlesey Social Media in regards to the invitation by Whittlesey Town Council to support (2) Syrian Refugee families.
I have reported here on my site several times when this has been discussed at WTC meetings – I have reported what was said and what I heard – I made NO comment.
I think it is dangerous for The Trolls (many hiding behind anonymity) to post what I am told (I do not do Social Media for these reasons of ‘trolling) is tantamount to being ‘racist’.

As I  have said before, it won’t be too long before some of these people will be prosecuted.

I believe that Social Media has a very good useful place in society if used sensibly.
The ‘possibility’ of Syrian refugees is still yet to be finalised, there is NO cost the local ratepayer and is funded by the ‘Tax-Payer’ via central government.
I fully accept and agree there can be ‘robust’ debate on whether Syrian refugees come to Whittlesey or anywhere else – but being ‘racist’ doesn’t come into the equation.
Having ‘polls’ on Social Media on emotive subjects only whips up the situation.

Having reported the plans several months ago, I am somewhat surprised it has taken so long for these ‘trolls’ to catch up – I don’t read them, and am not bothered whether they read me or not. ( I have friends that monitor other sites for me)

I report and comment on what I see and hear first hand by attending many meetings daily, weekly and monthly – my several thousand daily readers know this, you may not necessarily agree with what my comments are – you are always welcome to contact me and discuss the situation.

I do not hide behind anonymity and do not make spurious comments or postings, I have written about ‘Trolling’ and Anti-Social behaviour on many occasions.

My qualification to make comments about Syrian refugees are that ‘I’ have been to many war torn countries suffering conflict from Vietnam in the early 70’s to supporting NATO forces in Kosovo in the late 90’s – I have seen first hand the suffering of peoples around the world, hunger and devastation – I hope no one has to witness these wars like I done.

Whittlesey Town Council discussed this at their meetings I was there – The Trolls were NOT.

This Weeks Scam…

Trending Week….

Yes – success – again – thanks to FDC’s rapid response team, no good whinging and whining on anti-social media – do things yourself and report – as was the case this week with a ‘Fly-Tipped’ double set of settee’s on New Road, I reported it one day and it was gone the next – not rocket science….

Next we have the ‘idiot’ of a driver who not only parked near a junction on Headlands Way, (They) parked within the junction itself….Well I have news for you – you have been reported to the local constabulary and you may get a visit if you live locally.
Causing an obstruction and parked illegally.
Neighbours did report to the Police on 101 –

I don’t normally get overly involved in national politics here on this forum, however I read that our MP Steve Barclay has been in the news….I read on several different papers and commentators, his remarks about ‘Fast Tracking – Doctors to become fully qualified’
I well appreciate that Mr Barclays may have been quoted out of context – however the commentators from the Medical Professionals were not very happy about his comments, and ‘they’ are qualified to make their responses – maybe Mr Barclay should remember a lesson from his ‘old boss’ whose favourite phase for everything was ‘Lessons must be learnt’ (aka David Cameron).

I was somewhat surprised to see someone using the public telephone on the Market Place yesterday morning. and although a few weeks old – just to remind that the Manor Field Gates are locked at night.

Finally it’s Beer Fest at The Nags Head in Eastrea – I remember as a young man in Eastrea, all you could get at the Nag was a warm Manns Brown Ale and a packet of Cheese & Onion.
Old Bob was the landlord – Times are a changing some may say!

Two More Distraction Burglaries

Fenland Neighbourhood Police Team report there has been (2) Distraction Burglaries in our area.
Remember: If someone knocks on your door, always examine and check their identification.
Caution: Never let anyone in your house unless they are someone you know and trust.
Think: Don’t immediately agree to any offer involving a significant amount of money, time or commitment. Seek independent/legal advice first.
Investigate: If you are interested in what a door-to-door salesperson has to offer, take time to find out about their business and their offer. Shop around to make sure you are getting a good deal.
Confirm with charities that they are collecting in your area.

The above advice has been taken from :

Trees Will Grow Back-Hopefully

Visitors to Serpentine Green and Hampton residents alike took to Twitter this week to complain about the extent of work carried out on the trees, some claiming they had been “butchered.”

Probably a bit early to cut back trees for various reasons, but after the usual comments on ‘Twitter’™ – I would hope that many of these trees will recover as they often do…

Remember the foray of comments a few years ago about ‘Arnolds Lane’ when the ‘Payback Team’ cut back the large overgrowing hedging…. (Sept 2015)
This is what it recovered to 12 months later..
No comments what-so-ever from the Keyboard warriors on Anti-Social Media….
