Kings Dyke Bridge – Reports & Findings….

As previously published on this site earlier this week, The Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority under Mayor James Palmer have a meeting this Wednesday.
(I will be attending) To ‘hopefully’ make a decision on ‘Funding’ of the project.
The agenda has been published and is a very comprehensive meeting it looks to be.

Item 2.5 late on of the meeting covers The Kings Dyke Crossing, you will note is says
‘Closure’ – which to me means a decision will be made.
There some 14 pages of information the committee have as their pre-meeting read-up pack/information.

Then there is a 78 page report from SKANSKA the consultants who are supplying facts/figures/ demographics and a business case – Heavy reading indeed if you have a day or two…..
For the project to get approval from the Committee there will need to be a 60/40 majority in favour of approval…..

I will be there to hopefully see history made…..!!!!!

Whittlesey Library Attacked By Ransomware

Whittlesey Library – Panic Stations early this afternoon, when I heard and saw one of the Libraries Assistants Desk Computers get the hit…..I am unaware whether any of the other computers were affected…..desperate measures on the telephone helpline whilst all services stopped.
I can not emphasise enough the need to invest in some good Anti-Spyware, Anti-Hacking and Anti-Ransomeware software.

There is a lot of software out there some free and some you pay for.

Since I run many computers and systems I pay for mine and !!!! in 25 years have been targeted on many occasions – but my software has blocked and got rid of the attacks….

I run several different types of software – but it protects me – and this website and the users who view it……you won’t catch anything nasty from here – I hope…..

[Ransomware is a type of malware that prevents or limits users from accessing their system, either by locking the system’s screen or by locking the users’ files unless a ransom is paid.]

Normally targeted at individuals, we have experienced the NHS being targeted last year.

There is software to recover your files if your computer has been ‘hacked’ – but one of the best ways is to make back-ups of all your data/files and photo’s

If you or your family/friends have been targeted contact me I know how to solve the problem.

Whittlesey Mud Walls Getting Good Feedback

After this summers completion of all the survey work and the printing of the Mud Walls of Whittlesey Booklet (available at Whittlesey Library – Free) the group is now taking themselves out on a more educational program – especially aimed at local schools.
Today joined by Cllr Bob Wickes from Coates, who is advising on Funding streams available to purchase equipment.

More Updates….

A spate of minor thefts is on-going, even bicycles that are chained are not safe. Invest in a good quality chain and lock.
These women! – I know because I saw them…were that desperate to get into the Nail Bar/Shop that she left her car door open for a good 30 minutes – not bothered that pedestrians, buggies and prams can not get through and have to walk on the road…..

Yes Mrs – extremely inconsiderate – I hope you enjoyed your trip to the Nail Bar.

Health Service Review

I attend many of the meetings held at Peterborough City Hospital and the (CCG) Clinical Commissioning Group. These meetings inform ‘us’ the public (not many attend) on how and where health services are going within Cambs/Peterborough.
Today I received the following.
Most (including myself) are confused about who is providing what! at our local health service. However I believe I am better informed than many in this respect.
Most of us just want to be able to book an appointment easily and if refered – be seen in a timely way at our hospital – unfortunately it is becoming much more complex than that….
Reading the report (Even the main points) is a worthwhile 10 mins of your time.

Message issued on behalf of Caroline Walker, Chief Executive:
Good afternoon Mr Gerstner.
The Care Quality Commission has now published its report on our Trust following the inspections that took place at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust in June/July 2018. I am disappointed to share with you that our Trust has been rated overall as ‘Requires Improvement’. The link to the report is here.

While this is a disappointment to our staff and to our Board, it is important that we reflect on it in the context that we are just 18 months post-merging three hospital sites into one organisation. From feedback gained through other routes, we know we have come a long way in that time, but it is not possible to embed our recently-developed clinical strategy, nor new processes for the integration of cross-site teams in our service areas, within that timeframe.
It’s important to note the report highlights many areas of good practice, – in fact we have 75 individual ‘Good’ ratings compared with 15 ‘Requires Improvement’. I am also pleased to see an outstanding rating for the Caring element of our End Of Life Care service at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
That said, this report provides us with a good source of information to progress with our continuous improvement agenda. We have already put in place an action plan to address the points raised by the inspection team. I am confident that if the inspectors returned this week they would see a significant difference in the areas where they highlighted issues since our June inspection.

Our aim is to carry on with our journey towards being an outstanding organisation for our patients and our staff.
Kind regards
Caroline Walker

Crackdown on Disqualified Drivers

We are appealing for the public’s help to crackdown on disqualified drivers in the county.
Disqualified drivers have had their licence taken away for a reason and by continuing to use the roads put other road users at risk.

We are appealing for the public’s help in making the roads safer by providing us with any information they have about disqualified drivers.
In particular we are keen to know the names of those committing these offences, what vehicles they are using, where and when they are using them.

The more information we have about these offenders the more targeted we can be in our efforts to catch them and make the roads safer.
We are also asking for the public’s help in targeting motorists who drive under the influence of drink and drugs.
Between July 2017 and May this year, 787 people were arrested in Cambridgeshire on suspicion of driving under the influence of drink and drugs.
The penalties for drug driving are the same as those for drink driving. If convicted, motorists could lose their licence, be fined up to £5,000 and even face a prison sentence.

People are being urged to help catch those without a license or who are under the influence by using the confidential reporting line – 0800 032 0845, which is available 24/7, or report online at https://www.cambs.police.uk/report/Report-Shared/Report-anti-social-driving

WBF Meeting 24th October

The Whittlesey Business Forum have 52 members, I am not a businessman or own any business, but was asked to join when the group was reformed in my role as a community activist!
I go to the meetings to hear what local businesses are doing and what issues and problems they may have.
The group have a good core membership and I am always made welcome and asked for any input I can make.
At last nights meeting the guest speaker was Cllr Julie Windle (Mayor of Whittlesey) who gave a presentation about herself and her involvement into local politics.
Cllr Windle who stood against me in the last local elections won the seat by 29 votes.
That’s democracy  and I am more than happy I gave the electorate a choice.
