The 3rd and final Whittlesey Town Council – Music-On-The Square, remained dry with even some sun. Several hundred attended, old, young and children, BYO – bring your own food and drink if you wished. Some good music and plenty of dancing in the square.

20 Bags of Litter & Rubbish collected in an hour in and around Manor Field.

The annual Whittlesey Street Pride Party took place last night – thanks to our hosts Alan & Lisa for their fantastic hospitality as always. I did attend but not in the photo….

Update on the ‘old’ Morley’s Petrol Pumps site….here are this mornings photos – through the wire fence. I understand if all goes well that October may well be the target date for completion. Certainly the ‘Hole’ to clear any contaminated land looks pretty impressive about 12 foot (4 metres) deep.

As you may be aware, the ‘bulk’ of the funding is coming from the Mayor of The Combined Authority (Cambridgeshire & Peterborough).
Both in the documents presented to the E & E committee yesterday and one member stated that ‘Costs’ could go up as well as down, depending on the tenders that are submitted.
Below is the reply received by Whittlesey Town Councillor Cllr Eamonn Dorling (today) from James Palmer the Mayor of The Combined Authority.

There was ‘some’ questioning’ about the parallels to the ‘Ely By-Pass’ in that what appeared to have been ‘open-ended’ funding for the Ely project to come about and fast tracked at what-ever expense.
The vote was taken and it was unanimous decision, to proceed with the tendering of the built phase (Option 3 remains the choice) with a target completion date of 2022 !!!!!

The turn-out for todays meeting of The E&E at Whittlesey Christian Church was somewhat disappointing – only 8 members of the public, (more members of the press than public) and only a few Whittlesey Councillors, Myself, Cllr Bob Wicks, Cllr Alex Miscandlon and Cllr Julie Windle. I accept that these meeting were arranged at fairly short notice and some had holiday commitments (I changed mine), 4 out of 14 is somewhat dire for such an important event. Unfortunately Cllr Alan Bristow, who attended Monday’s exhibition could not attend today as he is unwell – and I’m sure we wish him a speedy recovery.

Below the executive report given by Cambs CC officer Andy Preston. This video is around 12 minutes long, it will outline (some) of the history in the build up to todays debate and decision (later). The video to those who may rely on hear-say (social media) can hear the real factual information – it is worth the time to watch.

Firstly, I would like to thank Cambs County Councillor Leader, Cllr Steve Count (who I invited to come to Whittlesey) for holding 2 events here in our town. The first being Monday which was very well attended.
Today The Economy & Environment Committee was brought to the Whittlesey Christian Church.
The reports and agenda are well published below on the web-blog over the last few days.

History in the making – being that The Kings Dyke Bridge Crossing (Option 3) is to proceed to the next stage – that being competitive tendering for the build and construction.

3 Speakers, first to speak -Whittlesey & FDC Cllr Alex Miscandlon gave the committee a insight of the on-going issues of transport infrastructure, the increasing traffic and the associated pollution. He high-lighted the issues of when the North Bank is closed.
Next was March Cllr and deputy leader of FDC Jan French who also highlighted the on-going issues.
Finally Leader of Cambs CC Cllr Steve Count gave the committee a robust argument for delivering the bridge/crossing.
After the Committee discussed various points and costing, along with a none open ended contract or pricing.
