Drug Dealing in Whittlesey & Area

You may have read my report earlier this week on the success of the Police stopping and apprehending (2) suspected drug dealers.
I have witnessed such a ‘deal’ – it was delivered by car and completed in less than 10 seconds before the car sped off.
With communications so active for the majority of the population drug dealing is so easy.
Please if you witness such an event report it to the Police on either 101 or on the web reporting page at Cambs Police.

How to report non-emergency crimes

If you want to report a minor crime, such as a stolen mobile phone, you should go to your nearest police station to report it, or call your local police in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland by dialling 101.

You should call 101 to report crime and other concerns that do not require an emergency response. For example, if:

  • Your car has been stolen
  • Your property has been damaged
  • You suspect drug use or dealing in your neighbourhood

Or to:

  • Give the police information about crime in your area
  • Speak to the police about a general enquiry

Beware More Phishing Going On….

Good morning Roy,
I have had 3 emails from “TV Licensing” telling me that my television license “is due today, etc”.
The emails, which looked very authentic, came from:

(RG I have removed part of the address so no one can accidentally get curious and click on the link -DO NOT Click on links from these e-mails).

service@mak.knittg
service@firstplaceelectrical
alert@voll-service

The first place I look when I receive a spurious email is the senders address. Can you stress to your followers that they should always do this, and it may stop them falling prey to these despicable characters.
(RG – If you have the slightest suspicion of not knowing the origin of the e-mail DO NOT open it)

Fraudsters send fake Virgin Media emails threatening “automatic disconnection”

Action Fraud has received over 100 reports about fake emails that purport to be from Virgin Media. The emails threaten the recipient with “automatic disconnection” due to “invalid billing information”. The links in the emails lead to genuine-looking phishing websites that are designed to steal your Virgin Media account login details.

Don’t click on the links or attachments in suspicious emails, and never respond to messages that ask for your personal or financial details.

Can You Help?

Whittlesey Concert Band are looking for a ‘new’ venue (within the Whittlesey area) to hold their weekly practice sessions.
At a minimum, they would like space on site to store the current music we are practising, say 3 stacking boxes containing up to 36 players folders and any spare music. Currently players take their music home and if they are absent, then so is the music. This space would mean we could keep these folders centrally, enabling us to cover any missing parts or ensure guests and potential new members have music to play.

In an absolute ideal world, it would be great to have a small room on site for 3 filing cabinets and the boxes, so all band property is held centrally with access to sort and tidy the library outside of band rehearsal times.
Two charity concerts at the Indoor Bowls Complex 14th July and 15th December.

And Whittlesey Festival 8th September.

Can anyone help please.

Another Good Event – How The Fens Were Drained

A very good (free) event held in Ely, attended by around 60 people, with (us) 4 from Whittlesey. A brief history by Dr Peter Daldorph highlight who fast the Fens were  drained, some 10,000 men most prisoners (some first phase were Scotish) – took months not years as it would today.

Crime Update II

Whilst ‘some’ on social media (you know who) are whining about the Police giving out parking tickets and have nothing better to do….
Sorry but you (you know who) are completely wrong again, I have explained so many times how the ‘Parking System’ works in Fenland as opposed to the rest of Cambridgeshire.
Parking is the most complained about subject for years at Town Council, Neighbourhood Watch, Police Forums and FDC Safer Partnership.
Simple do not park illegally and you will not receive a ticket.
The Police treat parking as a low priority and only target when there are no other incidents going on.

By the way whilst the whiners carry on…think about this…

Local Officers have been dealing with the misuse of the 999 system. So far this month the control room has received hoax 526 calls from our area.
This stretches Police resources.

Crime Update I

As widely reported:-
Officers made two arrests in Fenland in the early hours of this morning thanks to information provided by members of the public.
Yesterday evening, officers received reports that a car seen in the Whittlesey area was possibly being used for drug offences.
Soon after, at about 1.20am this morning (29 March), with assistance from the BCH Firearms Unit and the BCH Roads Policing Unit, the vehicle was stopped in Peterborough Road (A605).

A 44-year-old woman from Peterborough was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle whilst unfit through drugs, driving without insurance and possession of class A drugs.
An 18-year-old man from Norwich was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.
Both remain in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station in Peterborough. The vehicle was seized.
DCI Rob Hall said: “We’d like to thank members of the public who called in with information relating to the car.
“These two arrests are a brilliant example of how members of the public reporting information to us makes a difference, and also shows the work our officers do off the back of that information.
“Sometimes a lot of work goes on behind the scenes that is not immediately obvious to members of the public – but all information supplied to us helps us build a picture of what is happening in a specific area.
“I would strongly urge anyone who suspects drug activity in their area, or knows anyone who carries a weapon, to please report it to us.”
If you suspect somebody is involved in drug dealing, or know someone who carries a weapon, report it to us online at https://www.cambs.police.uk/report/Report or calling 101. Always call 999 in an emergency.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org.

Thank you,
Corporate Communications
