Good Neighbours Update

Some neighbours are becoming concerned about The Jehovah’s Witnesses knocking on elderly peoples doors. They are doing nothing illegal and have like other religious groups being carrying out these activities for many years.
Signs of doors and windows informing of ‘No Cold Callers’ may help.
A spy-eye glass through the door in order to see who maybe at the door.
A CCTV system or doorbell with a mini-camera may help.
Or as many people do – just not answer the door.
If you do so, politely say you’re not interested and close the door.
Of course if you are interested in what they have to offer or say – that is your decision.

A very convincing ‘scam message’ sent to SR purported to have come from ‘Argos’™ –
There are a couple of give-aways – why not come along to the ‘Free Scams Session’ – this Wednesday at 7pm – Whittlesey Town Council Offices – as advertised here previously.
Fortunately SR checked with Argos – and it was a ‘Scam’
If you are unsure – never click on a link.

Before I post ‘links’ on this site – I always check them myself first and only post ‘links’ to known trusted organisations.

Cambs & Peterboro (STP) Board Meeting

Cambs & Peterboro Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP) Board — Will meet in public this month on Monday 20 May.
The meeting will be held at the Ely Cathedral Conference Centre, Palace Green, Ely, CB7 4EW
From 12.30pm to 3pm.
The Board will discuss progress on short, medium and longer-term priorities to improve health and care services for local people.  This will include hearing about progress to make sure that people are not being kept in hospital beyond the point when they are ready to go.

The Board will hear about how our local communities fare differently when it comes to their health.  Stuart Keeble, Consultant in Public Health, said: “At its starkest, residents living in our most deprived communities experience health outcomes similar to somebody 10-15 years older in the least deprived communities.  This is the scale of the health inequality challenge we need to address.”  Dr Fiona Head, Associate Director of Population Health Strategy, said: “We have made progress on health inequalities over the last 6 years but significant health inequalities remain in all areas of the STP.
We are working to understand the reasons for this and the further actions we can take.”

The STP Board is keen to hear a wide range of views on health and care services. Members of the public can submit questions in advance so that a full answer can be provided at the Board meeting.  We request that any questions be submitted in writing to CAPCCG.transformationprogramme@nhs.net at least two working days prior to the meeting date, that is, by 5pm on Wednesday 15 May 2019.

Thank You

Excellent Meetings This Evening

A good attendance at the New Queen St Surgery (Patients Participation Group) – 14 members and the deputy practice manager. News that direct admin support for diabetics and other at risk groups will be put in place – in the near future.
A slight modification to the telephone screening/booking system, in the near future patients will be advised that they will be called back – within the next hour or a timeframe,
this will help patients who wait in all day for a callback.
Some news about the practice being amalgamated within The Lakeside Group will be announced in the near future through official channels.

Also attended The Whittlesey Society meeting – again fairly well attended by 16 members.
A very good talk by guest speaker Chris Car – What The Romans did for us – for example they introduced Chickens (eggs) and Pheasants and how they cooked – quite interesting.
