Cambs & P’boro’ Minerals & Waste Local Plan – Consultation.

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Minerals and Waste Local Plan: Proposed Submission Plan Consultation – 15 November 2019 to 09 January 2020

Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council (we) are preparing a joint Minerals and Waste Local Plan (MWLP) which will replace the current adopted joint plans.

This new MWLP looks forward to cover the period to 2036, and considers the land use planning policies and allocations that are needed to guide minerals and waste management development over this period in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. It also considers the provision we need to make in order to ensure that there is a continuity in the supply of mineral to support planned growth; as well as sufficient capacity to manage all types of waste which will be arising from development, and existing and new communities.

We are writing to inform you that we are consulting on the Proposed Submission version of the joint Minerals and Waste Local Plan, and that between the dates set out below you can make representations on this document.
This consultation is undertaken under Regulation 19 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012.

The consultation starts 9:00am on 15 November 2019 and closes at 11:59pm on 09 January 2020.

The Proposed Submission Plan, along with a number of supporting documents, including a Sustainability Appraisal and a Proposed Submission Policies Map, are available to view online at cambridgeshire.gov.uk/mwlp or peterborough.gov.uk/mwlp.

Details of how to make representations, including accompanying guidance, can also be found online.

Burglary Prevention Event in Whittlesey

At this time of year burglaries can become more common. To help combat this, Cambridgeshire Constabulary are holding a Burglary day of action on Tuesday 26th November.

On the day there will be a burglary information event in Whittlesey library from 09:30-11:30 where you will be able to come along and our Community Safety Officer, Jules Hanrahan, will be on hand to offer advice and useful hints and tips. There will also be an opportunity to purchase some crime prevention products.

If any of you are able to pop in or would like some leaflets to drop into the members of your scheme this would be especially welcomed in hotspot areas.

Looking at the burglary figures, Whittlesey has seen dwelling burglaries in:
Coates Road, South Green, Bassenhally Road, Kings Delph, Feldale Lane,
Ramsey Rd, Hinton Close, Station Road, March Road, Inhams Road,
Benwick Road and Stonald Road.

Non-dwelling Burglaries e.g. Sheds and garages have occurred in:
Doddington Road, Burnt House Road, March Road, Victory Ave, Snowley Park and Delph St.

The local policing teams will also be out and about across Fenland leaflet dropping and providing information to residents in areas that have experienced dwelling burglaries and shed/outbuilding thefts.

Please come along and speak to Jules at the event on Tuesday if you can. It would be lovely if you could pass this information out to your family, friends and neighbours who you feel might benefit from this advice.

Kind Regards

Robin

Local Scam – Beware

My attention has just been drawn to a potential scam telephone call that appeared to use the 01945 (Wisbech) code.

Elderly gentlemen receives a telephone call. The caller appeared to be using the telephone number 01945 585993. The caller was an Asian female with a strong accent. The nature of the call appeared to be centred on some kind of IT fault (no further details) A family member present at the time took control of the conversation and when they told the caller that they were having difficulty understanding them, the Asian caller then left the conversation and was replaced by a male voice who quickly ended the call. (No further detail about the Asian accent)

On balance, this appears to be a scam call in which the local code of 01945 was being used.

I personally called the 01945 number and the line indicates it is disconnected. Remember, scammers can make it appear they are calling from any number they wish, but actually underneath the 01945 number I suspect the number is very different and may have originated from the internet.

For further information about scam telephone calls and actions you can take, please visit the resources area in the website for the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Against Scams Partnership; https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/residents/community-protection/against-scams-partnership/

You may also consider taking some online training provided by National Trading Standards as part of their initiative called Friends Against Scams.

I would also advise subscribing for a regular newsletter provided by Action Fraud; www.actionfraud.police.uk
