Local COVID Alert Levels
Following an announcement from the Prime Minister on Monday, a new system of Local Covid Alert Levels has been introduced. From today, Local Covid Alert Levels will set out information for local authorities, residents and workers on what to do and how to manage outbreaks in their area, replacing the previous system of national and local restrictions. More information on this new system can be found on the GOV.UK website.
The current Local Covid Alert Level for Fenland is ‘medium’, which means that all of the restrictions and guidance that was previously in place will stay the same. You can find more information about the medium alert level on the GOV.UK website and a more general guide to each alert level is also attached.
Test and Trace Payment Scheme
We are now accepting applications for the Government’s Test and Trace Payment Scheme via our website. The scheme supports those on low income who have been told to self-isolate by providing them with a £500 lump sum payment. Residents who have been told to self-isolate but who do not meet the criteria for this support scheme can apply for a discretionary payment instead. All WTC meetings are now and for the forseeable future held on the video streaming platform ‘ZOOM’ – members of the public can attend these meetings and are able to address (normally prior notice is helpful) the Council during the ‘Public Forum’
I will be attending this evenings meeting and as usual give a report on the events
within a day or two.

A very much late in the day initiative…..
A new hotline has been launched to stop fraudsters illegally targeting COVID stimulus schemes.
In an initiative between government and the independent charity Crimestoppers, the public can now call a new COVID Fraud Hotline (0800 587 5030) anonymously and free of charge to report suspected fraudulent activity.
Over 150 COVID support schemes have been introduced by the government to help those struggling financially, but a minority of individuals have been abusing these schemes by claiming support illegally.
The COVID Fraud Hotline is open 24/7, 365 days a year on 0800 587 5030 or fill in the simple and secure anonymous form at Covidfraudhotline.org. You’ll be doing the right thing to help ensure the public purse is protected from fraudsters.
