Beware Of More COVID Scams – Whittlesey Has Had It..!

Covid Grant Text Scam

One of our supporters has kindly shared a recent scam text message they received so that we can alert others. The text claims to be from UK government and states ‘Records show that you are eligible for a COVID-19 grant. To proceed, please complete the form here:…’ and provides a link to give your details.

Whilst there is genuine financial support available from government to people who lose income as a result of not being able to work, this is not it. The link in this text is designed to steal personal and banking information under the guise of an application for the grant award.

Please be careful – do not click on any links in unsolicited texts or e-mails and please warn others.

Updated News On Saxon Pit

No Whittlesey Town Councillor I understand was aware of the news breaking on the Cambs Times© which is again worrying.
I need a lot more information and research before commenting further, what-ever the result if this goes ahead an even greater amount of traffic/hgv’s will be congesting the A605.
I said over 15 years ago, any increase in HGV traffic going to the Saxon Pit – should be subject to a local environmental off-set tax – even £1 a load would bring money to use to offset the CO2 increase….As if there is not enough traffic on the A605 – more argument for a ‘Relief Road’ (No allowed to call it a By-pass)…!!!

False News – Misinformation – Rumour

If’ I was given a pound everytime ‘Social Media’ get it wrong I would be a very rich man.
The latest my frineds who do ‘Social Media’ inform me is the misunderstanding of a press release by FDC leader Cllr Boden. The public on SM think that Whittlesey is getting 11,000 more houses – wrong that figure is for ‘Fenland’
Whittlesey has at present a ‘Planning Stock’ for the next 5 years, Fenland District Council are inviting landowners to express an interest in developing their land for the next 10/20 years.
As I reported earlier this week the field on Ramsey Road before the railway crossing has been ear-marked – ‘Of Interest’ and a local developer has already expressed their desire to build on this land.
The consultation is still ongoing regarding future land and will be looked at either December/January by FDC.
In the meantime as I have often said – Do not believe everything you read – especially on Social Media….

Below – ‘The Field’ – Ramsey Road on which there is interest to build 100+ Houses.
