KD X Update ….

A message from local member and leader at Fenland District Council, Cllr Chris Boden:

I’m pleased to say the Jones Bros team are back after Christmas and work on site continues to progress well, particularly on the two main structures: the bridge and the underpass.

The steel reinforcement for the underpass’ 5m high walls is underway (left picture) and once completed, attention will turn to the concrete pour.

Part of the bridge structure is the abutment, which connects the deck of the bridge with the ground and also supports the structure’s weight.

As part of the work on the railway bridge’s southern abutment, pile caps (right picture), which form part of the foundations have been backfilled.
The site team is now carrying out preparation works for constructing the abutment’s columns.

With a further national lockdown, please remember to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.
Stay safe everyone.
Chris

300 People Have Now Died From COVID @ PCH

Caroline Walker, Chief Executive, for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I can confirm that sadly, 427 patients being cared for in our Trust have passed away since we began reporting Covid-19-related deaths.

There have been 127 at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and 300 at Peterborough City Hospital. All patients were aged 30 to 98 years old and the majority of those had pre-existing health conditions. We are currently caring for 198 patients with Coronavirus in our hospitals.

So far around 6,000 people have been given the Pfizer vaccine at the hospital, but the Oxford vaccine is still not available in Peterborough. There is no information on when it will arrive.

No Holidays – So Where Did We Go….

Sundays I try and post something a bit more relaxing….No more tree pictures for the time.

I like to reminisce on what fantastic travelling we have done.
Today I remember ‘Ponce Inlet’ – look it up on Google.
A ‘real’ egret sitting on the Bar!!!!!

Lets hope for a nice quiet Sunday….

It Is Important To Have Your Say

I am republishing a survey by the PCC in respect of consulting with the public on financing Cambs Police.

As your Acting Commissioner, it’s important for me to understand your views about crime and how it is being tackled in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

I would be very grateful if you could spend a few moments completing the below survey.

Your responses will help to inform the next Police and Crime Commissioner, elected by you in May 2021, your views and make sure the next Police and Crime Plan reflects these.

The survey looks into the areas of policing people in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough would like to see their Constabulary prioritise. All information collected and answers submitted will be anonymous in line with our privacy policy.

This questionnaire should only take a few minutes.

The survey can be accessed via this link: www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/DNTBBTX

Kindest regards,
Ray Bisby
Acting Police and Crime Commissioner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough

Another Repeat of COVID Vaccine Scam

As of 7 January 2021, Action Fraud had received 57 reports from members of the public who have been sent text messages claiming to be from the NHS, offering them the opportunity to sign up for coronavirus vaccinations. The texts ask the recipient to click on a link which takes them to an online form where they are prompted to input personal and financial details. In some cases the online form has looked very similar to the real NHS website.

Pauline Smith, Head of Action Fraud, said:
Remember, the vaccine is only available on the NHS and is free of charge. The NHS will never ask you for details about your bank account or to pay for the vaccine. If you receive an email, text message or phone call purporting to be from the NHS and you are asked to provide financial details, this is a scam.”

How to protect yourself:
In the UK, coronavirus vaccinations will only be available via the National Health Services of England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland. You can be contacted by the NHS, your employer, a local GP surgery or pharmacy, to receive your vaccination.
Remember, the vaccinations are free of charge and you will not be asked for a payment.

The NHS will never:

  • ask for your bank account or card details
  • ask for your PIN or banking passwords
  • arrive unannounced at your home to administer the vaccine
  • ask for documentation to prove your identity, such as a passport or utility bills

If you receive a call you believe to be fraudulent, hang up. If you are suspicious about an email you have received, forward it to report@phishing.gov.uk. Suspicious text messages should be forwarded to the number 7726, which is free of charge.

If you believe you are the victim of a fraud, please report this to Action Fraud as soon as possible by calling 0300 123 2040 or visiting www.actionfraud.police.uk.

The Scam Keep On Coming

Bogus BT Telephone Call

Beware of a scam telephone call recently received from 0208 0400389 by one of our partners. The call stated, in an automated voice,
This is to inform you that your BT contract will be terminated tomorrow due to illegal theft and hacking activities. To restore your account and resolve the current scenario press 1 to talk to our investigation team right now. Please press 1 now. Thank you.

You can listen to the message here

Most people will realise this is not a genuine call, either because they aren’t even a customer of BT or because they are already aware that scams like this happen. However, fraudsters can use technology to attempt these calls on a very large scale, often specifically targeting older or vulnerable people. Therefore the call could likely reach people who are not aware this is fake and who are sufficiently alarmed into pressing 1.

Please tell your colleagues, friends, family and neighbours never to press 1 if any cold call instructs them to do so. This will likely result in a hefty fee on their bill or connection to a threatening or persuasive criminal who knows exactly how to trick someone out of their money.

The instruction to press 1 is a common tactic of many telephone scams. Fake HMRC calls suggesting you owe tax or are due a rebate are a common example. In each and every case please do not press 1 or any other key instructed. And do not be reassured by a local or familiar looking number (in this case a London area code) since fraudsters can ‘spoof’ numbers to disguise their real origin and look like a local or UK call.

Report phone scams to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or at www.actionfraud.police.uk

Please stay safe and spread the word. Thank you.
