Police Officers Commended @ Ceremony

Yesterday was a proud day for us as we heard stories from across the constabulary at an awards ceremony to recognise the excellent prevention and problem-solving work undertaken by some of our officers and partner agencies in the past year.
Held at the lovely surrounds of Lakeside Lodge Golf Centre in Pidley, the event saw five finalists:

Rural Crime Action Team (RCAT) – for their work to tackle illegal hare coursing within the east of England, predominantly in Fenland, alongside associated criminal offences and anti-social behaviour

St Neots Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) – for their work to tackle a county line whose nominals were exploiting a vulnerable man in Eaton Socon.

Peterborough’s Eastern NPT – for their work in identifying an extremely vulnerable man who was being exploited at his home in Dogsthorpe.

Intelligence and Specialist Crime Department (ISCD) – for their work alongside regional and national partners to combat county lines drug dealing and child criminal exploitation.

Peterborough’s Eastern NPT – for the leading role they took to ensure a joined-up approach to safeguard a vulnerable woman who was being exploited at her home in Eastfield.

Tonight – Thursday 22nd – NHW AGM

An invitation for anyone who maybe intrested in Neighbourhood Watch to come along at 7pm this evening at Council Chanbers – Whittlesey Town Council Office.

At our September meeting we had local PC Gary Stabler give us updates on his role as a Neighbourhood Police Team.

Awareness and reporting concerns and issues are our main tools, for example last week here in the Whittlesey area at least 6 people were scammed by a PCR Notification – which looked very convincing as coming from the NHS…

Tracing Notification: You have been in close proximity with a confirmed case of the latest variant. Please order a free test-kit via: trace.order-pcrkit-uk.com

The give away in this case was the ‘link’ – never click on a link you are not familiar with.
If and a big if – you were in close proximity to someone who had COVID, the NHS has stopped sending out test and trace messages.
6 people at least clicked on the link, the message asked for a 99p postal fee to send the test kit….another give away.

Scammers are adjusting daily their clever means to get money out of us all.

Our NOT Very Good Graffiti Idiots Have Been Seen Again…

Some ‘Pill Boxes’ are listed (note – not protected) and some are not.
They belong to who-ever the land is that they sit on.
Unfortunately our presky ‘graffiti’ artists have had another go at the one along the Bower.

Cambs County Councillor Clarifies A605 Issues/Problems

Good afternoon.
When an emergency such as a bust water main occurs, a road must be closed until necessary repairs are effected.

However, when that road is an ‘A’ road, the official main diversions should not be on unclassified roads such as Snoots, Stonald and Hallcroft Roads.

Highways attended the closure every day to monitor progress.  Each day Highways told Anglian Water to put a much wider diversion in place to stop through traffic coming into Whittlesey on the A605.  Each day Anglian Water just ignored them.

I’m told that Highways could prosecute Anglian Water for their actions and inactions.  But the fine is so minimal, I am told, that it’s unlikely that CCC will take any action.
 This is just wrong.

I’m making further representations.

Insult was added to injury yesterday evening when the road remained closed well after the repairs had been completed because Anglian Water’s sweeping up machine was hours late arriving to clear up the mess left on the carriageway.

Kind regards,
Chris

Councillors Are Just As Frustrated – Road Works….

After the reported burst water main Halcroft/A605 last Friday – confusion, frustration and very annoyed residents and road users.
Our Councillors were well contacted by Saturday morning and were trying desperately to make contact with Cambs CC Highways.

Sunday and Monday ongoing issues – All I was told was contact was still trying to be made.
Water main fixed, but Road Closure and signage still in place – which caused even more complaints…..

You know how it works…..
One team come to assess the job.
One team (not the same) come to put signs & traffic lights up
One team digs the holes.
One team fixes the problem.
Another team fills in the holes.
Another team checks the works.
Another team takes the signage & traffic lights away.
I am just as frustrated…..

Apologies Needed….

Unbeknown to me and most residents, was there were (2) events held at The War Memorial last week, (1) a minutes silence to honor the Queens passing and another (2) w minutes silence at 4pm on Monday.
I am a very big supporter of the Royal British Legion, who I understand had ‘organised’ these events…..No good saying it was put on Facebook™ ….many do not follow certain social media sites…..This was a very poor communication and has left many of us disappointed that we were unable to take part.
