My Donation To Sir Harry Smith School 1997

25 years ago, I ‘inherited’ a special print of ‘The Queen’ by the artist Pietro Annigoni.
I gave it to Sir Harry Smith School in 1997 and it hung in/around the Headmasters Office for many years. When Principal Jonathan Digby retired 3 years ago, I asked him whether they still had it, he said it had been put in storage whilst the school underwent renovations.
All history now – pity I didn’t take a photo at the time.
RIP

The 1955 painting was commissioned by the City of London livery company, the Worshipful Company of Fishmongers. It was first displayed in 1955 and later loaned by the Fishmonger’s Company in 1958 and 1986 before the National Portrait Gallery’s 2012 exhibition. It is displayed at their livery hall, Fishmongers’ Hall, adjacent to London Bridge

A Time Of Reflection

A National Moment of Reflection to mourn the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and reflect on her life and legacy will be held on Sunday 18 September at 8pm.

The one-minute silence can be marked privately at home, with friends and family, out on doorsteps or in the street with neighbours, or at locally arranged community events and vigils

Updated – Today at Sandringham

The A149 from Kings Lynn was heavy traffic in both directions, this was at 11:00am
Took around an hour from KL to getting parked.
Returning 15:30 usual Friday traffic around KL.

Connie and I visited Sandringham today, unable and not viable to visit London.

Joining us, around a thousand members of the public paid respects to our departed Queen. We were fortunate that the queue was only around 10 minutes walk to the Gates.
The floral tributes went for 50 metres beyond the Norwich Gate.
Very well organised.

Call to donate school uniform to help families in Fenland

Local people are being asked to get behind a scheme to help families struggling with the costs of back to school especially uniform and shoes.

The Think Communities team from Cambridgeshire County Council were in Wisbech on Monday (15) running a donation event asking people to give school uniform and shoes no longer needed so that it can be used by families struggling financially thanks to the cost of living crisis.

The team were at Tesco Extra and the supermarket giants have backed the campaign by donating new items of uniform.
