ONS – Voices of our Aging Population.

The first set of unrounded estimates from Census 2021 have been released covering demography and migration, including age and sex, country of birth, household size and people’s living arrangements.

Our new interactive maps will help you find out what people’s lives were like across England and Wales when they answered Census 2021. And they’ll allow you to see the data not just for your local authority area, but your local neighbourhood as well.

And in our article Voices of our ageing population: Living longer lives, we go beyond the numbers to provide expert views on issues related to ageing and explain why census data are particularly useful. What do we know about the lives of older people and the challenges they face? How do the data help to plan for an older population? And, what do older people themselves think about ageing and how we could all age better?

Police Survey – Again

Has your local church been damaged? Have you been affected by hare coursing? Has agricultural equipment been stolen from your farming business? Or are you concerned about wildlife crime in your area? A new survey developed by the Rural Crime Action Team (RCAT) is seeking residents’ views to better understand what incidents and crimes across our communities cause most concern.

The survey is open until 11.59pm on Wednesday 30 November, and is aimed at anyone who lives or works in Cambridgeshire or has a business in the county. The results will be used to form part of the force’s local policing strategies.
Assistant Chief Constable Vicki Evans said: “The RCAT is key to tackling the different types of heritage, hunting, rural and wildlife crimes that impact our communities.

“We are committed to seeking and listening to people’s views and this survey demonstrates our commitment to tackling these crime types. I would encourage all rural residents, landowners, and business owners in Cambridgeshire to complete it.”
Police and Crime Commissioner Darryl Preston added: With more than 90% of Cambridgeshire being classified as rural, this survey will ensure the force and RCAT are prioritising what matters most to those affected by heritage, hunting, rural and wildlife crime.

Facts On The CPCA Growing Fenland Fund – Whittlesey

The public who read my post(s) about the recent funding of the Heritage Centre,
having now being put in hibernation and the ‘suggested’ alternatives – would have read
ALL the Facts – Unfortunately I can only presume via the usual inaccuracies and false news on Social Media, many and I mean many have got the Facts – wrong.

All 4 Fenland Market Towns were allocated £1M from The Cambridge & Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA) – A committee was formed under what is known as
The Growing Fenland Partnership. In Whittlesey’s case consists of 3 Councillors and 5 Members of the Public.

A full consultation was given for the General Public to put forward ideas of what they wanted to do with the monies. I attach the report at the end.

The Heritage Centre is no more (for the short term anyway) – so some £455,000 was left to allocate for other projects.
Myself and Cllr Mason, with some supported by other Whittlesey Town Councillors put forward that this money ‘could’ be allocated towards our Manor Centre/Field/Sports and Young People.
However this was never an option from the original decisions from the consultation, plus ‘a’ Councillor indicated that due governance had not been followed correctly.

So last week the Growing Fenland Group (Whittlesey) had a meeting where Cllr Mason who asked to attend put forward the ‘Manor’ proposal, this received no support from those
attending. Their own option was put forward (Leveling of the Market Place/Must Farm artifacts to the Library/£200+K towards the next stage for Consultants to put together a case for The Relief Road/Bypass – + Manor Tennis/Netball Courts & Solar Panels Swimming Pool.

This option was voted through and will now go the the CPCA.

Disappointed – Yes very much so – however ‘We’ will carry on the campaign and hope that we will get support from ALL Whittlesey Town/Fenland/County Councillors in our quest for future funding.

There you have The Facts (hopefuly I’ve got them correct)

Some Councillors have received a vast amount of ‘abuse’ because of this decision – I do not wish anyone especially Councillors to be sujected to abuse – I’ve had it myself…
Have a grown up argument by all means… robust – yes – but abuse No.

E-Cops – Web Chat & Online Reports

Cambridgeshire Constabulary are asking you to consider using online services for non-emergency contact with police, to help reduce the pressure on call takers and save time waiting on the line for an operator.

In September, our average response time on live web chat was just 27 seconds, making this the easiest and most efficient way to contact us.

Our specialist web chat operators have a wealth of knowledge and are available around the clock to offer advice, answer questions and raise crime or intelligence reports, often without the wait.

Those who are pressed for time, hard of hearing or can’t talk freely can visit the
dedicated web chat page
or click the green button in the bottom right corner of any page on the force’s website
to start a chat with an operator.

Online reports are another great way to contact the force in a non-emergency situation. We have dedicated forms on our website which can be submitted in a matter of minutes, without the need to wait on the line for an operator. Just provide us the details and we’ll take it from there.
All online reports are reviewed and dealt with in the same way as calls to 101.

Learn more about contacting us here or try our contact us quiz’.
