Works & Traffic Lights @ KD X

Kings Dyke –
Temporary Traffic Management at Night week from Monday 12/12/2022

A message from the King’s Dyke project team:
Once a new road is built, there is often the need for what we call ‘snagging’ work. As a result of this, during our checks, we have noticed extra drainage is required on the bridge. While this work is carried out, there will be temporary two-way traffic lights installed along Ralph Butcher Causeway starting on Monday (12 Dec). Jones Bros will be working overnight from 8pm until 6am for four nights.

We are carrying out this work behind the temporary barriers and overnight to try and minimise disruption in December and the lead up to Christmas.
There will be a need for further remedial work in the New Year, but we will know more after Christmas and once this work is completed.

We will carry out the work as quickly as possible – thank you for your patience.

HSF – At Last Fenland Has Had Its Share….

Having been a ‘trusted’ partner in the Household Support Fund since its inception, on now seeing some of the results of how and where the support has gone – Fenland appear to have had its share, it would have been good to perhaps see where in Fenland has had the most support – The funding is still there and our main channel is Age UK and Age Concern, individual trusted partners/groups can still apply.

COMBINED AUTHORITY COMMITTEE KEEPS OPTIONS OPEN FOR WISBECH RAIL

Getting Wisbech better-connected came closer today when the Combined Authority’s transport and infrastructure committee decided to move forward with an Options Assessment Report analysing the costs and benefits of different types of connection.

Then again – I/we could look back a few years to the ‘Great’ Wisbech 2020 Vision which sort of kicked off in 2012.

Lots and lots of £££££ spent with very little tangible results.

Blurred vision over bold 2020 plan for Wisbech’s future.

To some observers it looks very much like throwing even more money at this very ambitious plan/project – the costings now being stratospheric by anyones standards.

Delivery Robots now available to Cambridge residents

I wonder ‘if’ any of the Whittlesey Co-Ops will be doing something similar….
but then again ‘ours’ would prbably end up vandalised?

Food delivery robots have taken to the streets of Cambridge as part of a new pilot scheme by Starship Technologies, in partnership with the Co-op and enabled by Cambridgeshire County Council.

After receiving a thumbs-up from shoppers following the Cambourne pilot that started earlier this year, the decision was made by the Highways and Transport Committee to welcome the robots to the historic city streets of Cambridge.

The collaboration will be available to 12,200 households within the Cherry Hinton, Queen Edith, parts of Romsey and Coleridge areas of Cambridge. Orders can be made through the Starship food delivery app, which is available for download on iOS and Android, with groceries picked fresh in local Co-op stores on Perne Road and Cherry Hinton Road.

Cambridge residents can order their delivery to arrive in under an hour and watch the robot travel in real-time via an interactive map. Once the robot arrives, residents receive an alert and can meet and unlock it through the app.

As part of BRAKE National Road Safety Week, year 5 pupils who have been chosen as Junior Travel Ambassadors are promoting road safety messages to their school communities.

This year there are just under 200 Junior Travel Ambassadors (JTA) working in schools across the county.

The scheme, organised by Cambridgeshire County Council’s Road Safety team, aims to give pupils a voice and empowers them to make their own decisions about what they think needs to change in order to improve road safety for their school.
