Burglary Warning As Clocks Go Back

With the clocks going back and the evenings start to draw in, we’re urging residents to check their home security.
With more homes empty after sunset, it is so important to make sure your home is protected from opportunistic burglars.·  Keep a light on when you go out or use timer switches (battery or solar powered lamps are great for keeping costs down)

·  Lock all windows and doors, even when you’re at home

·  Don’t leave valuable items on display

·  Close your blinds and curtains at night to prevent people looking into your home

·  Install good lighting, for example exterior lights with dawn-to-dusk sensors and an alarm.

·  Do not leave car keys near the front door or anywhere easy to find.

Don’t become a victim of a burglary, visit our website to find out how to protect your home

Update …..Cllr Jason Mockett – Has NOT Officially Resigned The Conservative Group

It my understanding that the correct process of Cllr Jason Mocketts resignation to all of Whittlesey Town Councillors has not been followed as per rules.
What those rules are I am not fully aware at this time.
So….Jason stays as is until decides what to do….

Cllr Jason Mockett elected for the Lattersey Ward of Whittlesey, has resigned as a Conservative Councillor for both Whittlesey Town Council and Fenland District Council.
In his resignation e-mail he quotes :-

I have made the decision to no longer represent the Conservative Party for both town and district council. To prevent costs to the town in an event a bye election may need to be called if I quit entirely,  I will stay on as an Independent Councillor until the next elections.

Jason lists many reasons for his decision to move away from the Conservative Group.

He is the 2nd Councillor WTC that has resigned from the Town Council – the other being
Cllr Gary Munns, who left ealier this year.

Concerned About Health & Wellbeing – Take The Survey

This survey is for our ‘local’ ICS – Intregated Care Service, it may influence them on providing services, we all know there is a severe shortage of GP’s/Doctor – then say so.
The survey takes between 5 and 10 minutes.

Update ALL CPCA Monies Going Option ‘2’

At their meeting (Wednesday) – (Growing Fenland – Whittlesey Committee) to determine the future of £455,000 left from unspent budget for the now no go Heritage Centre.

As you are all aware both Councillor/Leader (WTC) David Mason and myself put forward a request that ALL the money be spend within The Manor Area, to kick-start a regeneration of the area for sports/environmental and youth support.

Thank you to all those who contacted myself and Cllr Mason 95% of whom supported our proposals.

Cllr Mason attended the ‘virtual’ meeting yesterday afternoon acting as the substitute for the sitting WTC Councillor Munns who was unable to attend.
Cllr Mason put forward our case, there was no seconder to the proposal and the Committee put forward their own plan, whereby some of the monies ‘could’ be spent on the Manor, but the rest and on –

  • Southern Relief Road
  • Exhibiting some of the Must Farm finds at the library.

Levelling the Market Square to provide a safer area for events.

The ‘bulk’ of the money being spent on Consultants to produce the next stage of the Southern Relief Road. (A report) – Their proposal was voted through…..

Whilst I accept the democratic result – it is disappointing – We move onwards and flight for this for our future on another day.

The Growing Fenland (Whittlesey Committee on Thursday) consisted of Cllr Boden, Cllr Laws and member of the public Martin Curtis)

The Fenland Diverse Communities Forum

I was invited to attend this ‘virtual’ meeting today, as was all other WTC Councillors.
I was the only WTC to attend.

This group has been going for sometime and I have on occasion joined in.
It was ‘mainly’ about – you guessed it – Wisbech – well 99% of it.
The support via The Rosimini Centre is absolutely fantastic, they also have
The Queen Mary Centre, The Ferry Project and other support area’s in terms of ‘People, Council and Volunteer’s to help support their Community along with local Councullors.

We of course in Whittlesey have nothing to compare with, our wonderful Volunteer’s running the Whittlesey Emergency Food Bank and other Community Groups.
Whittlesey Town Council have financially supported many local organisations.

The only mention that was raised was The Phoenix Youth Group, again run by Volunteers
who have steamed full ahead over the past year.
I and a few others can not and do not have the resources at our disposal that Wisbech has.
