A Good Result For Now – Planning @ Horsey Toll

A very large Industrial Complex at Horsey Way/Toll was put to Peterborough Planners yesterday. Sense at last and not advised by the threats (as in Fenlands case recently) by legal eagles on cost grounds. Refused….Highways on the A605 is already bad enough,
Cambridgeshire Highways well No Comment?

Mixed Views On Parking & Speeding

As usual the keyboard warriors on social media (I am not part of it – but am sent what is trending) are complaining as they do about our Neighbourhood Police Team, the Police are ‘wrong’ if they do and wrong if they don’t….
Parking & Speeding are ‘priorities’ set by the Public – we all have an opportunity to set these priorities…   Maybe the Keyboard Warriors are too busy on Social Media…?

Posted here regularly – Have YOUR say – places a link for members of public to put their views to various organisations including the Police.

The March Neighbourhood Policing Team have been patrolling Whittlesey and issuing tickets to vehicles overstaying in the 1-hour limit parking spaces on the High Street.

Please read the parking signs carefully. They tell you how long you can park somewhere and if there are any restrictions – reading the sign might save you a fine!

Speeding in the rural parishes is a priority for the March Neighbourhood Policing Team.
This is a priority as set jointly by the local community and from our own policing data from recorded crime.
Today we’ve carried out speed checks and within about 5 minutes in Coates Road we had stopped and ticketed a driver for travelling at 37mph in a 30mph zone.
Thankfully, most drivers were following the speed limit 👍
We will continue to be out in the various areas conducting speed checks.

Priorities

Using a combination of your feedback and our own data, we have set the below as the top three things your local neighbourhood policing team across the March area of Fenland will prioritise between January and March 2023.

These priorities will be reviewed and updated for the following quarter (between April and June 2023).

(Covering March, Wimblington, Doddington, Benwick, Chatteris, Pondersbridge, Whittlesey, Coates, Turves, Manea)

  • Drug use and dealing across March, Whittlesey and Chatteris
  • Illegal parking in Whittlesey
  • Speeding in rural parishes (Benwick, Eastrea, Coates, Turves, Wimblington, Doddington, Manea)

Did You Know….

Before Whittlesey Town Council was formed, we had Whittlesey Urban District Council, our own employed Road Sweeper, our own Refuge Depot, Our Own Planning Department, to name a few. Offices were based in Queens Street (The building in front of the car park) and prior to that in Delph Street.
Miss Judith Foard was an assistant clerk at the council, she still lives in Whittlesey.

So much for promises from Governments about ‘Localism’ – we had and lost it swallowed up by what is now Fenland District Council.
