Update Manor – Swimming Pool – Still Somewhat ‘Cool’

Several visits by ‘engineers’ – some parts replaced and as of this afternoon (Wednesday 19th) the water temperature is stubbornly on the cool side, it is around 5/6 °C below what it should be.
Lots of scratching of heads…..after some 2 weeks.

When I was the ‘Engineer’ and something wasn’t fixed pretty pronto – the magic words were pack your bags you’re on the next flight home…..get it ‘fixed’

Whittlesey Shopkeeper Has Appeared In Court.

A shopkeeper has appeared in court for selling lollies containing cannabis.

Gulal Shamalzi admitted possession of cannabis with intent to supply at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Police carried out a warrant at his convenience shop in Market Street, Whittlesey, in April last year.

Cannabis lollipops were seized and tests later showed they contained Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a cannabinol derivative and component of cannabis-related material.

Shamalzi was handed a 12-month community order with a mental health treatment requirement and a 12-day rehabilitation activity requirement.
He was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and the cannabis lollies were destroyed.
PC Gary Stabler said: “This investigation highlights our commitment to listening to the community’s concerns and following up on information we receive.

“Cannabis edibles can be dangerous, and with bright packaging, they can be particularly appealing to children and young people.
“We take all offences involving drugs very seriously and would urge people to continue reporting information to us.”

Updated – I Have Reported It….. More Vandalism

Besides the ripping off Fencing they decided to throw a full bad of dog poo in the river,
not good for the fish or anyone who would want to ‘free swim’ in the river (never seen it)

At least 2 Panels missing and 1 in the river?

Around 20:00 last night the ‘usual suspects’ youths 15+ in Hoddies causing damage to the 5 aside footbal area of the Manor Field, throwing objects into the river, it was witnessed and I have reported it. Our Neighbourhood Police Team are away of the latest spat of crime, however as the ‘usual suspects’ know when the Police are present and not.
It will be brought up at tomorrows Full Town Council meeting.

Remember no good complaining on Social Media – report it (a task I must admit) on the Cambs Police Website, it is then logged and recorded.

temporary period of 2 years (retrospective)

Officer recommendation Refuse

F/YR23/0069/F | Change of use of site for the purposes of wood processing (B2 use) for a temporary period of 2 years (retrospective) | Land South Of New Saxon Works Peterborough Road Whittlesey Cambridgeshire

1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
1.1 The application seeks retrospective permission to regularise unauthorised
use/development for the use of the site for B2, wood processing facility, and to allow for the operation to continue for a temporary period of 2 yrs.

1.2 The site is located within the former Saxon Brickworks and is within Flood Zone 3 on the western outskirts of Whittlesey.
Residential properties lie approximately 350m to the north and east of the site.

1.3 Insufficient information has been received in respect of a Noise Impact Assessment;
Odour Impact Assessment. Further to this, the nature of the operation and condition of the building is such that the management of dust from the site cannot be reasonably and
effectively controlled by condition and the necessary enhancements to the building would be disproportionate to the length of the permission being sought. Consequently, the
recommendation is to refuse the application.

RG Note : What happens now, well so guess work! – The applicant Jenkinsons could try and appeal the decision with the Planning Inspectorate, if they do, they could carry on operating until the PI make any decision – this could be a delay tactic.
They could try and mitigate the reasons for refusal.
They could pack up and leave.
