One Question To Ask A New Election Candidate

A severe shortage of new candidates here in the Whittlesey District, however there are 3 Labour, 3 Conservatives 2 Green and 2 Independents standing, some live near locally and some not so.

However the one question I would always asked a prospective candidate is….
How many Council meetings (Be in the Full Council or any Committee meeting) have you attended in the past 3 months…..
I can tell you only One Candidate has shown interest in what is happening that Candidate is Mr Barry Wainwright (Independent) who lives in Eastrea and has attended at least 3 such meetings.
I wonder if any of the others bother to come to this weeks Full Council meeting?
Not a great deal on the Agenda – but some interest would be welcome whatever group you are standing for….

Election Update – Update

Read other Conservative Candidates have corrected some of the ‘error’s on previous versions put out ….. note ‘some’…..

I will try not to bore you with day by day events, some are already turned off by elections..?

As those who are interested know, ALL District Wards in Whittlesey are being contested.
The area I am standing is known as Whittlesey South and there are 3 other Candidates for the 2 FDC seats on offer.
I am fortunate to have a good team supporting me and we have been out and about most of the week delivering to the vast area the Ward now covers.
Only one disgruntled resident who unbeknown to me  – had a’do not put junk mail’ on his letterbox sent me a very direct response to which I did apologise – but it made no impact…never mind…one mans junk is another mans……

Out of the town area Connie & I covered nearly 20 miles of the ‘Farming Area.’
We are about 90% complete and I see that the ‘other’ parties are now also on their deliveries.
I have to give present leader of FDC along with County + WTC Councillor roles – Chris Boden kudos for his many other roles at County and within many other organisations.
Not only the above but also as we can see –
a Councillor within London.

I wonder where he finds time from? – perhaps – thats why he occasionally misses e-mails/calls/text messages.

In their election leaflet the first ‘error’ to be found is the somewhat off the mark on how much Non Conforming Waste was dumped at Saxon Pit – according to their leaflet some 142,000 tons – whereas everyone else know it to be 122,858 tons that the EA discovered.
The above ‘flyer’ is for the Area – Whittlesey East & The Villages.

It was primarily the Saxongate Group who ‘lobbied’ Cllr Boden for an Air Quaily Monitor and to his credit fought the case for funding.

OK a minor ‘errors’ – however there maybe more errors in their leaflet…..I’ll not bore you further?

THE ‘E-Scooter’ Issue/Problem – Priority NP Whittlesey

It is members of the ‘Public’ you and I that set what priorities our Neighbourhood Police Team should look at…

E-Scooters – Whittlesey
The use of E-Scooters is something which we get asked a lot about. At this time in Whittlesey and the other areas of Fenland, E-Scooters can only be ridden on private land, with the land-owner’s permission.
There are other areas, such as Cambridge, where national trials are taking place and E-Scooters provided for the trials can be ridden legally in these areas but not privately owned ones.

We get reports of users of E-Scooters being ridden in ways that cause nuisance and potential danger to themselves, pedestrians and other road users.

The first time you are caught riding an E-Scooter in public you will be given a warning by the police and spoken to about the legislation. If you are caught again, you can expect your scooter to be seized.

This is what happened to a male in Whittlesey this week. He was seen riding on his scooter by PCSO’s and stopped and spoken to and warned. Later on that day, Officers saw him riding his E-Scooter again. He was stopped and the Scooter was seized under the Road Traffic Act.

If you want to report any nuisance or issues around E-Scooters please report below:

Air Quality Info #2

As previously posted – Whittlesey has a very good Air Quaility Monitoring device.
This has been installed in the Hallcroft Road area.
The device was installed after ‘Lobbying’ by the Saxongate residents Group.

The readings are as good as live – with only a small time delay you can view the device statistics by Clicking Here

As you maybe aware, I have been a member of North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust for a number of years, I attend most of their meetings and last year was invited to take part in an ‘audit’ of non medical facilities.
You can see the comparisons with the nation average.
