I Helped This Man……..

Whittlesey arsonist Eric Jordan jailed after setting light to his rented flat.

Jordan, who was inside the flat at the time, blocked the downstairs entrance with a leather armchair before starting the fire in the stairwell using a bottle of barbecue lighter fluid.

He suffered serious injuries after falling from the first-floor window and was later arrested on suspicion of arson after being treated by paramedics at the scene.
On Friday at Huntingdon Law Courts, Jordan, of Scaldgate, Whittlesey, was jailed for one year and four months after admitting to arson.

DC Chris Herring, who investigated, said: “Not only could the consequences of Jordan’s actions have been fatal, but he also caused around £50,000 of damage to the flat he was renting at the time.

A family of four, who were trying to enjoy their Christmas morning, also had to be evacuated from their nearby home for their own safety.
“The fire was deliberate and put himself, as well as his neighbours, in serious danger, so I am pleased he is now behind bars for the damage and distress he caused.”

After Eric Jordan came out of Hospital (4 months), he contacted me, as he had been discharged to a residence in Spalding, he asked whether I could help him to get housing back in Whittlesey where he claimed his family was.
I put the wheels in motion with FDC Housing, and within 3 weeks (yes you read correctly) he was rehoused here in Whittlesey – I now know it was in the Scaldgate area.
Did he ever contact me and say ‘Thank You’ – in my dreams….never….rarely happens.

CPCA Promo of The Peterborough Science & Technology Park

FYI – ‘Whittlesey’ has been dropped from the ‘headline’ – so it is now called the Peterborough Science & Technology Park.
I picked this up at yesterday’s meeting in Huntingdon, I am unsure as to whether any funding from the ‘Combined Authority’ has been made available – this is primarily a County Council remit.

What Are ‘Some’ Councillors Afraid Of !!!!!

One of my key subjects is ‘accountability’ to those who elected us to represent them.

From More Muzic Radio – Matt Page….

Well, Fair play to Mr Gerstner. He came to us at “Town Talk Live” today and I have to say “He was a star”
Thanks for your openness and Honesty Roy.

We welcome Chris Boden into the hot seat next.

Any of you other councillors fancy it who have not answered back yet? Maybe I might get an acceptance from my illusive ward councillor.
I should say I have more chance “being bitten by a daffodil” 🙂

About 60 or so of us, attended this mornings fund raising coffee morning, nice cakes and savouries – around 30 draw ticket prices with (3) star prizes – with I am happy to say was one which I donated – a meal for 4 at our local ‘Visuvio’s’ restaurant.
A good morning with live music – well done again.

Trial By Social Media (Again)

Boy did it kick off last night, with the signage being spotted at the ‘Ivy Leaf’ about car parking and ANPR….I received several e-mails…and replied to all by 07:00 this morning.
Yes the place is becoming an eyesore.
It mistakenly is not in my council ward, but as always like to know what’s happening.

I am aware of at least 3 local builders who have shown interest in the site but have walked away because of the financial ownership.

Both I and Cllr.  Singh are not your ward councillors if you live on Gracious Street.
Whitmoor Street is in our division.

The Ivy Leaf is located on Orchard Street is this also is not our division either at Whittlesey Town or Fenland District Council.

Your councillors are :-
Cllr Dee Laws
Cllr Alec Branton
Cllr Alex Miscandlon

I have copied them in on this e-mail and am quite sure one of the will respond maybe with more information than I have.

I will go today and take photographs, I regularly litter pick both Gracious Street and Orchard Street and will work with my fellow councillors on these concerns.

A landowner can install whatever they want in respect of parking controls – they may need planning permission or consent.
I could see NO ANPR (automatic number place recognition) in place.
