The ‘odds’ are shortening’…?

So…as the deadline for the ‘options’ to purchase the land for the ‘future’ Sainsburys supermarket… running out Mid-October ! – today, rival Morrisons announce the closure’ of 11 supermarkets around the country. None in our area, but the odds now of Sainsburys ‘actually’ building becomes a bit ‘more’ less…. The ‘New/revised’ planning application is/was not on FDC’s planning agenda for September….?

I attended the Consultation……

Consultation Doc 2Today in March, I attended the first of several consultation meetings in regards to NHS – Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services, which at some time will impact on us all.
I wrote about this on the 01st Sept.
Presentation by Mr Kyle Cliff a Director of the CCG (Cambs Commissioning Group) explained to the 8  people attending (Only myself from Whittlesey) in simple terms the reasoning for the change.
Basically, transport within Cambs is provided at present by many different companies, under the ‘New’ regime everything will come under One provider, with One point of contact and One phone number.
Consul 150916ADirector Kyle Cliff explaining the process and took many questions from myself (14 in total).
He answered very well, although a number of questions could not be answered because the ‘New’ contract is not yet in place.
Our area spend £16 million a year of Non- Emergency Patients Transport, and I dare say that ‘they’ the CCG by having one provider will ultimately save money?
At the end I asked ‘why’ Whittlesey was not included in the consultation process….
The answer was – Previous consultations proved non very popular, the last one only 4 people attended (I being 1)….However there is some good news…. The CCG has been approached by the New Queen Street Surgery PPG (Cllr Kay Mayor), and they hope to bring this meeting to Whittlesey sometime in October…When I know the date/time, I will publish….

The CCG responsible for the provision of healthcare has a total budget of nearly £1 Billion per annum.

NHW Logo 3NHW 150915-02A
A very good turn out for NHW Group, 17 of us at Grosvenor House (Thanks to Whittlesey Town Council) We covered a number of updates, most importantly the report Sector Inspector Will Davies gave to WTC last week (See previous post).
We also welcomed our latest potential new member Sue Taylor from Eastrea, where we have NO NHW presence ..
NHW 150915-04AOur many thanks to Richard Hunt from Benn Security who gave a short talk on Home security and some of the major issues with doors, locks, and alarms….

Richard kindly donated a ‘Key Safe Box’ all members attending put their names into the ‘hat’ – the winner being Ken Creed….

(l) Ken Creed (r) Richard Hunt

I am pleased to report that our Group, have NO Major issues to take to our Police or Fenlands Street Scene….

I was there !!!! and I will be there!!!!

Some way to go, but on Saturday 21st November 2015 11:00 – 15:00 Peterborough City Hospital will be celebrating its five year anniversary, featuring a look back over the changes from former sites to current facilities and look at future exciting developments.
During the many years building up to the new hospital, I was invited to many meetings, although there was and is a lot of controversy about the hospital, most people who have had treatment there speak very well of the services and staff.
I along with Connie was at the Sod Cutting ceremony along with the CEO Chris Banks.
Like or loath the NHS/Hospital, it has services fit for today.
The finances are way above us mortals….anyone is welcome to attend….
I’ll be there….

NHW Meeting tomorrow Tuesday – Be a Better Neighbour

NHW Logo 1Tomorrow evening – Tuesday 15th July at 7pm at Grosvenor House (The Town Council Offices) Side door upstairs.
Another ‘Voluntary Group’ still (just about) doing Okay. Keep an eye on our/your area, our/your neighbours.
Unfortunately there will be NO Police in attendance. After listening to our ‘New’ sector Inspector last week (See previous posting) We shall all being seeing less Police at Community engagements, they do have more important issues to deal with, but whilst groups like NHW exsist we will do our best to keep everyone as safe as possible.
Remember – report anything you may see unusual, take a note, better still get a Photo…. Everyone is invited….

Am I the ‘only’ one getting this problem….?

Having supported and worked with the ‘Police’ over many years, I am very aware that ‘they’ can only do so much – and that ‘they’ have more urgent priorities to deal with, but again today we have the ‘idiot’ parker who has no respect for other road users and are potentially risking others. I just wish our ‘Police’ would have a ‘go’ at these very inconsiderate ‘idiots’

Here we are today with the ‘Bin Men’ trying to do their job, the ‘idiot’ on the left causes
mayhem – pandemonium for over an hour.

Read this… It could save your life….

Deborah Gale and her team are carrying out a fantastic job of raising money and installing De-Fib machines though-out the area. What started as a small ‘project’ has evolved enormously. Not only could this save your life, but also your families, neighbours or friends. If they only ever saved one life – proves they are so vital to our community.
Thank you Deborah…..and your team.

A Few – Traffic & Road Issues…

NHW 150909 NHW 150911

Two unfortunate vehicles parked legally on Whitmore Street had their drivers side mirrors smashed.
NHW 150910A     NHW 150911-01

Peterborough Road – This week work on-going cleaning drains, however we suffer the usual blight of discarded road signs, I have forgotten how many times I have raised this issue, at present there are 7 such signs ‘dumped’ along the hedging along Peterborough Road from the crossing to the water tower…. over the years I/we have collected in excess of a hundred road signs, asked to return them to the contractor who left them, only to find no one has come back to us to collect them – they end up at the Recycling Centre (They are none to happy to receive them either)… This is at some cost to someone – probably us as if the contractor is short of signage – they ultimately will charge within their contract… and we ratepayers will eventually end up paying….. Time someone go a ‘grip’ of this….

150907-02Here we have a ‘Stupid fast food’ delivery driver, too lazy to park properly on the left of the picture. Blocks road, and unknowing, a serious accident just happened in this spot a few years ago, when friend and neighbour Stuart Rippon was knocked off his bike and just about survived…
