Police & Crime Commissioner

There will be elections for a new PCC on May 5th, very little being heard at present, however, this is very important, unfortunately only 14.77% yes you read correct, what a poor turn out, when ‘most’ are forever complaining.
It is YOUR call, it is YOUR chance to vote.

The link is for the outgoing PCC newsletter.

March is not the only place where Daffodils have been stolen!!!

Ramsey RoadIts not just a few for a jar in the kitchen, an ‘elderly’ couple was seen ‘harvesting’ a vast amount of daffodils from the Ramsey Road Layby, that’s why there are none in flower there.

They maybe not too everyone liking but they bring some nice colour to our Gateways onto our town and villages. Mean people….

Library – Hub

Went along to last nights committee meeting of FOWL – (Friends of Whittlesey Library).
The Library is now fully open, yes all libraries have had their hours cut back.
The ‘friends’ support the library in many ways.
The next event being put on is
‘Sing-Along-a-Frozen at 2:00pm on 7th April, tickets £2:50 adults / £1:50 children
Plenty of posters around town.

Do you know that you can get ‘Free Wi-fi’ with your smart device/tablet or laptop at the library.
Do you know you can get e-books for your smart device at the library
Do you know you can get I.T. advice at the library (Tuesdays)

A fantastic facility, now fit for purpose – thank you FOWL

Not Guilty – High Causeway

Thank you to Kay M on SL© for explaining the ‘reasons’ why the area was cleaned up.
I am not guilty of this project, but appreciate those who have cleaned up what was a real grot spot. From reading, the project is not yet complete.
It ‘appears’ no matter what some of us are trying to do in ‘keeping’ our town reasonably clean, tidy and graffiti free – there is a large amount of the public who do not like what I and many other like minded friends are trying to achieve.
Less rubbish, less litter, less graffiti, normally goes hand in hand with less CRIME.

I posted the latest crime stats last week, the numbers speak for themselves.
As Mark F commented on SL© there is a Public Forum at Whittlesey Town Council.
The next meeting is on Wednesday 13th April at 7:30pm
Go along and have a go…..It happens very rarely!

Meeting in Wisbech CCVS – A Vision !!!!!

The Cambridge Community Voluntary Services (CCVS) hosted the meeting , called
‘Fenland Round Table’ – in actual fact it was 95% Wisbech…. 14 organisations attended, including myself (I was invited).
More ‘Millions’ being allocated to Wisbech because of ‘their’ social depravation areas.
A big push by ‘heavyweight politicians’ for the Wisbech to March Rail link.
I was the only ‘person’ from Whittlesey attending.

The money, money, money, is being allocated, because of unemployment, low aspirations and skills in the Wisbech catchment areas (Their speakers notes).

I have heard this all before and have lots of documentation about this.
The ‘missing’ 5% was my input as a member of the public, of where does Whittlesey fit into all of this, why are we not getting £££ being allocated – and my usual arguments of our lack of infrastructure. Although my hosts were sympathetic I was told there maybe some ‘Ripple’ effect from the growth of Wisbech, nice spin.
So the scans/pictures sets out the 2020 Vision for Wisbech – where is Whittlesey Vision…..

But I do know a man that is passionate and has a vision for Whittleseys future…He is not a Councillor and his vision and views will hopefully be coming in the near future.

Wisbech 2020-01   Wisbech 2020-02  Wisbech 2020-03

Wisbech 2020-04  Wisbech 2020-05  Wisbech 2020-06

Update on Abandoned Mondeo

Ford Snoots Road 160321The owner is not ‘local’, it now becomes remit of FDC and the DVLA, maybe? being a ’53’ plate, some 13 years old, someone could well have abandoned the vehicle.
It is for the authorities to deal with.

There are windows open and not sure if it ‘locked’ – maybe again hoping to have it stolen!!!!!

This website is my copyright?

A reader asks:  “Can I say my blog is copyrighted?”
The short answer is “yes.”

Any “original work of authorship” is subject to copyright protection the moment that it is “fixed in any tangible medium of expression.”   For example, a love letter is instantaneously subject to copyright protection  as it flows out beneath your fountain pen. Similarly, blogs readily qualify as copyrightable literary works (as long as they contain some of your own expression and not merely expression copied from others). On the other hand, a song that you spontaneously sing is not protected by statutory copyright until it is “fixed,” e.g., until you write it down or record it. (Examples of the many varieties of “works of authorship” are listed in Section 102 of the Copyright Act.)

Also I have received comment from more than one councillor, that there are comments on social media, that is tantamount to be liable, people have been warned before about this.
Sooner or later someone will take action?

Abandoned Vehicle Snoots Road

Ford Snoots Road 160321My apologies to David S on StreetLife© I was not on the case earlier. Of course we no longer have a Neighbourhood Co-ordinator for NHW on the whole of the Snoots Road.
I did report it last Friday, and went to see for myself yesterday, and reported again on a ‘Higher level’. I have this morning received communication from the Whittlesey Police Team that they have it on their to do list…..Naturally the Police have ‘priorities’ and they will get around to this issue. I and most of the other law abiding citizens pay our way in all forms of taxation and this owner should do the same or face the consequences.
Our Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators have the ability to contact our Police team direct, they also have a ‘special password’ to fast-track when using the 101 None-Emergency phone system. If you would like to become a better neighbour in your street/road or area, then you are more than welcome to get in touch with me and I’ll help you to join.

Post note: 22nd 08:40 The ‘Police’ have been to investigate.
The Road Tax ran out Feb 2016 and the MOT ran out 18th March

More concerns along the ‘Green Wheel’

Green Wheel 160320-01From a concerned walker…. My wife and I went for a relaxing Sunday walk down the ‘Green Wheel’ as it is locally called. We were quite shocked to be met by several motorcycles and quad bikes freely using the footpath cycle route. We had to get out of the way for them to pass. This track is identified on all ordnance survey maps as a ‘footpath/cycle and traffic free recreational Green Wheel 160320-02route’. How long will it be before someone is injured by a motorised vehicle while walking along the ‘Green Wheel’ –

RG Note, I have sent this onto my contacts at Peterborough Policing and Peterborough NHW
