What is A Sockpuppet !!!!!!

From Cambs Policing…..

Today, I listened to a radio article that referred to a Sockpuppet, I had no idea what it was until then. So, I thought I would just pass it on to you all unless you all knew already and it was just me behind the times.

Wikipedia

A sockpuppet is an online identity used for purposes of deception. The term, a reference to the manipulation of a simple hand puppet made from a sock, originally referred to a false identity assumed by a member of an Internet community who spoke to, or about, themselves while pretending to be another person.[1]

The term now includes other misleading uses of online identities, such as those created to praise, defend or support a person or organization,[2] to manipulate public opinion,[3] or to circumvent a suspension or ban from a website. A significant difference between the use of a pseudonym[4] and the creation of a sockpuppet is that the sockpuppet poses as an independent third-party unaffiliated with the main account operator.
Sockpuppets are unwelcome in many online communities and forums.

A Different – Cyber Issue – Maybe – Read The Article

I came across the following article today, and I thought I would share it with you.

Now, initially it makes for quite a scary situation, but the last sentence (warning spoiler) states that the cyber criminal will need to know what type of surface the victim is typing on for them to guess what is being typed. How on earth are they going to know that? Maybe they have hacked into the camera?

Read it for yourself and see what you think.

Kings Dyke Crossing – Another Reply from Mayor Palmer

Further to my post on the 16th, regarding The Mayor of The Combined Authority…
Mayor James Palmer to WTC Cllr Eamonn Dorling.
Today another resident who took the time to contact Mayor Palmer has received a reply.

The two replies are consistent in there content….It looks very much like ‘we’ are relying on Mayor Palmer to hold Cambs CC to account. (That of course depends on who! may be re-elected or elected as Mayor at the next elections)
