My Meeting With The PCC

As the Chairman of Whittlesey & District Neighbourhood Watch (Inc Coates, Eastrea, Turves, Kings Delph and a part of Pondersbridge)
I have 2 or 3 face to face (1-2-1) meetings with The Cambs & Peterborough Police & Crime Commissioner Mr Jason Ablewhite.

The PCC’s remit is NOT to dictate on ‘how’ the local police operate, but to hold the Chief Constable for accountability and to provide funding for a modern, efficient police team through the whole of Cambridgeshire.

You can read and review all about the role and accountability by visiting the PCC Website:-

https://www.cambridgeshire-pcc.gov.uk/

Today I was brought up to date with what is happening with Policing in Cambs and a full report will be given at the next meeting of NHW which will be held on Tuesday 10th September @ 7pm – Whittlesey Town Council Offices (Peel House) Queen Street Whittlesey – New members welcome to come along……

Ramsey Road – Looks Like Re-Opening Soon…..

There are vehicles using the road, even though the #Road Closed# signs are still in place – (No I did not drive a car on the road!) there are active CCTV camera’s in operation – see photo’s. Several chunks of road have been re-surfaced, looks like just the white lining needs finishing off.

Break the Law – Take the consequence

There have been vehicle(s) ‘parked’ on Station Road for some considerable time, untaxed, and No MOT, at least 8 people have reported these vehicles to the DVLA (they are not abandoned – as the owner is known to the authorities – It is not a Police matter as they are not been seen driving on the highway).
A number of Councillors and Fenland’s Street Scene Officer have reported these persistent vehicle(s) and complaints lodged with the DVLA about none-enforcement.

Some may argue the perpretator is doing no harm – sorry the rest of us have to abide by the law of the land, the road and corner is being blocked and for months (year or more) the road can not be swept and is becoming a mess…..

Yesterday action was seen to take place…. (Click on picture to enlarge)
