Update – The Eastrea Village Memorial Bench

Further to my previous post….
I am grateful to David Denson Secretary – (For the article)
The Whittlesey Branch of the Royal Anglian Regiment Association Cambridgeshire.

RB – Thanks for the Photo’s……

The Whittlesey Branch of the Royal Anglian Regiment Association Cambridgeshire have undertaken to obtain 5 Memorial Benches. This project is being led the Branch Chairman, Bob Wicks, assisted by Branch members. It is proposed that

these are installed in Whittlesey (2 No), Eastrea, Coates and Pondersbridges.

The cost have been raised from various sources including Tesco, Regimental Associations, and a donation from an anonymous local Whittlesey Company.
The Branch has also provided (separate funding) memorial roses in similar locations,

As you will known, more than most, for both these projections to happen a number of people have provided time and materials free.

I would also mention that the Branch welcomes and represents Veterans from difference Branches of the Armed Forces and all are welcome.

More details can be obtained from Bob Wicks.

Royal British Legion Concert – Wonderful

The local branch of The RBL put on a wonderful concert last night – with The Peterborough Concert Band along with the Peterborough Pipers & Drummers, providing some foot tapping music, in aid of raising funds comemorating the 75th Anniversay of D-Day
A very well attended and supported evening at The Ivy Leaf Club.
Thank you again to the RBL Team for organising the event.

Good Event @ Library

Myself along with Whittlesey Town Councillors, Eamonn Dorling and Ray Whitwell attended and supported the ‘Fenland Local Plan’ exhibition at The Library.
A few ‘interested’ people came and asked questions.

Crime Conviction Update & An Invitation!

Today Thursday I have been invited,
(Along with many others I presume) to meet The Home Secretary Priti Patel in Peterborough –

I am not going as it is another Politician full of promises and delivering very little.
I wish those who do attend and engage the best of luck.

Informed the visit has been cancelled.

Please find below a round-up of last week’s convictions and news relating to Fenland. If you wish to see all news please visit the news section on our website https://www.cambs.police.uk/news-and-appeals/news-and-appeals.

Preparation For New Memorial Bench – Eastrea

I understand that (2) New Memorial Benches have already been installed in Whittlesey.
(1) Garden of Rest. (2) Whittlesey Cemetery.
Today a group made a new base for the Memorial Bench to be placed at the War Memorial in Eastrea. The funding for the Benches was carried out by The ‘Tesco Bags of Help’ campaign.
The groundwork cost of the Eastrea project was funded by a generous local resident.
