Levels in the River Nene remain high following rainfall last week. During periods of high tide the river will be unable to discharge into the sea, resulting in tide lock conditions. This is likely to lead to localised flooding at North Bank Road. It is expected that this Flood Warning will remain in force for several days, and this message will be updated on Tuesday 19th November. Whilst the Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority will close North Bank Road.

Sorry Cllr Count You’ve Missed The Boat -Again

Below we have an example (Like it or Not) of how some countries are addressing their infrastructure….The Germans ‘found’ £415 Million to complete this Bridge recently…..
We ‘seem’ not to be able to build a 80 Metre Bridge….
They built the whole thing 1,700 Metres in 8 Years

Weekly meetings….What is happening…? – Waited on this occasion 6+ years …

Outright ‘PIGS’ – Extreme Dumping – Our Cost

We all pay for ‘Fly-tipping, both in financial and environmental terms. Some are ‘blaming’ having to obtain a licence in order to take ‘Van’ waste to our Re-Cycling Centre.
I disagree…
The Photo explains all left at Glassmoor Bank – It has been reported and hopefully FDC’s Rapid Response Team will remove (I hope they find evidence) tomorrow.

A TRADITIONAL family butcher which has been in business in and around Peterborough for nearly 140 years has announced it will be closing its doors for good this month. The first Browns butchers shop was opened in 1870 by entrepreneur Richard Brown, and the firm has remained in the family for five generations, with shops in Peterborough, King’s Cliffe and Stilton.

But the increasing domination of the grocery trade by the supermarkets has sent over-the-counter business plummeting in recent years and the shop in Church Street, Stilton, has not turned a profit since it opened in 2003.

Although Browns will continue to deliver to its internet customers, co-owner Peter Harper says he has reluctantly decided to shut shop after the recession proved the final nail in its coffin.
He said: “Long-established businesses have built their reputations by providing what their customers want, and Browns has been doing that for five generations.”

Whittlesey Disabled Club Xmas Bazaar

Today another event  I support every year – Whittlesey Disabled Club Annual Christmas Bazaar…. All the ‘usual’ stall holders raising funds for many local organisations.

Nice to see and talk with Ada Samson (Another Coates lady – who now lives in Whittlesey), she was a very good friend of Vi Ellington (Funeral last Thursday), they both attended Coates School in the 1940’s.

Citizens Advice Rural Cambs – AGM

I am pround to have attended every AGM for the past 8 years. I am a ‘member’ of The Rural Cambs CAB’ and am passionate on the work and dedication that 100 volunteers carry out day by day – week by week supporting our community.
Last year was not a good year for our CAB accounting issues/errors nearly brought them down. Intrim CEO Nick Bencowe and the small team have helped stabilise the situation.
Consistency is now in place with Nick appointed permamant CEO.

I am pleased to report that Whittlesey Town Council financially have supported The Rural CAB for a number of years, their contribution of £5,500 annually help dozens of people from the Whittlesey area –

Sessions are held most Friday mornings at Whittlesey Library – booking is essential and this is done on a first come basis on Friday morning.

The CAB have also been holding sessions every month at The Eastrea Centre and this is funded by the local charities.

This year saw a good attendance, myself as a ‘Member’ and Cllr Mrs K Mayor representing WTC/FDC.

Also suporting the event was The High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire His Honour N.A. McKittrick DL (above) who was very compliamentary on the work the CAB are doing.
