More Courier News Fraud #2

Further to my previous e-mail about courier fraud this morning, I would also like to share a later press release that Cambridgeshire Police put out in relation to recent courier fraud incidents in Cambridgeshire. Please scroll down below my signature. It’s truly awful to learn that there have been victims in Cambridgeshire. Please continue to spread awareness in any way that you can so we can prevent any further harm to financial and emotional health. It is quite possible that residents in your NCCZ or Good Neighbours scheme will be targeted by these disgusting criminals so anything you can do to forewarn residents would be marvellous.

I was also interviewed on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire’s Drivetime programme with Ronnie Barbour on 28th January. If you would like to listen you can do so here at 1:23. If you do not have a BBC account you may be asked to create one to listen to the interview.

Many thanks for your incredible help. Together we can really help to protect local people from the scourge of scams.

Best wishes,
Charlotte

More Courier Fraud News #1

Apologies for being a bit slow with this one as many of you will have already have seen at least some elements of this e-mail by now from other sources. I just thought it worth collating a few things in one place for you to share across your local networks to keep as many people aware and safe from the threat of ‘courier fraud’.
If you are signed up to eCops you will have already received the message below from Cambridgeshire Constabulary (see after my signature) but I also wanted to share an excellent YouTube video here produced by the Metropolitan Police which does a nice job of illustrating how courier fraud and other impersonation fraud works. There is also a recent article in the BBC News which gives a victim account of the devastation caused by courier fraud.

I hope this information is useful to you share onwards within your community. The more people are aware of these despicable practices, the more resilient our communities will be to them.
Thank you very much,
Charlotte

Flood Warning In Effect

IMPORTANT INFORMATION.
A Flood Warning has been issued by the Environment Agency.

Flood Warning in force: North Bank Road alongside the River Nene, east of Peterborough and west of Dog-in-a-Doublet Sluice.

Flooding is expected for: North Bank Road alongside the River Nene to the east of Peterborough and the West of the Dog-in-a-Doublet Sluice.

Immediate action required.

Heavy rain has been falling on the River Nene catchment over the past 24 hours. During periods of high tide the river will be unable to discharge into the sea, resulting in tide lock conditions. This is likely to lead to localised flooding at North Bank Road from this evening on Monday 10th February onwards. Whilst the Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority will close North Bank Road. Diversionary routes will be put in place and further updates will be available through local media. This Flood Warning is expected to stay in force for several days until tide lock conditions improve. Please follow diversionary routes until the local authority re-open the road. We are operating the Dog-in-a-Doublet sluice to discharge water during low tide, and reduce the flood risk as much as possible.

We will be closely monitoring the situation, and this message will be updated by Tuesday 11 February, or as the situation changes.

Another Parody On The KD Xing

Well here it is….the ‘New’ signage entering Whittlesey near the Kings Dyke Crossing…. some have asked me whether CCC have ‘planning permission’ for this signage – I don’t know….
So before anyone has some funny idea’s to graffitti the sign (I do not condone such action) here is my own version….

ps…. ‘We’ were told the design which ‘Kier’ had already done was the one CCC was going to use and they had paid Kier to do it….confused so am I…..

Before and after…. (I’ve done it for you)

Kings Dyke Crossing Update…

Most’ of us have found out by default – I and more than half of Whittlesey Town Councillors are not on Facebook™ (you know my resoning) – so why is there a dedicated Kings Dyke Facebook site administered by Cambs CC – and none of  us were told about it.

CCC leader Steve Count ‘promised’ us and the public that ‘we’ would be kept fully informed by ‘him’ – that was last September.
Here is the FB link…..see for yourself – no information is almost as bad as
misinformation..
Some of those on Whittlesey Social Media were aware but so happened not to tell anyone else….
