Good to see The Belisha Beacon Replaced Eastgate & Paint….
Skanska contractors replaced the damaged knocked down ‘Belisha Beacon’ at Eastgate last Sunday…
I was getting concerned (again) about the state of the ‘Paint’ – however todays photo (KC) shows this has also been addressed.
Who knocked it over – don’t know…
The beacons were named after Leslie Hore-Belisha (1893–1957), the Minister of Transport who, in 1934, added beacons to pedestrian crossings.

Volunteer Police Cadets – News Story
| Cadets from St Neots and their leaders joined forces with regular officers to raise awareness of child sexual exploitation in and around the Cambridgeshire area.
The operation was a huge success and a number of establishments were visited; this has raised the profile of Child Sexual Exploitation and provided education to the public. For more information on Child Sexual Exploitation and how to recognise the signs of child exploitation, please visit: This was the cadets first involvement with officers since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience and getting involved. Throughout the event safety was adhered to at all times. Cadet Leader Amanda Large said: ‘An operation like this can’t be carried out without young people and what a great way to get our Police cadets involved, especially as they are part of the policing family. The cadets were so excited to be involved, especially where they were so integral to its success.’ DS Maria Allgood said: ‘Without our cadets stepping forward as part of the community, we would be unable to run such events’ It is amazing that the Police Cadets are able to support local policing operations and have the opportunity to work alongside Officers gaining valuable experience in relation to Policing operations. We are always looking for more volunteers to become Cadet Leaders and to support our local Cadet units. Do you have what it takes to inspire and encourage a young generation? |

Transport for London
I don’t know many who are commuting to London these days – or going for a day out – however this is the latest from TfL.
London is categorised as High Covid alert, Tier two of the Government’s new three-tier system.
Across our network we’ve put measures in place to keep everyone safe. When travelling you must wear your face covering over your mouth and nose for your entire journey including inside stations and on platforms. Keep in mind, some customers might be wearing an exemption badge as they are not able to wear a face covering for reasons that may not always be visible. Unless you are exempt , you could be refused travel or face a £200 fine which doubles with every violation up to £6,400.
Plan your journey and find the quiet times to travel.

Beware If You Have A Dormant PayPal Account
PayPal is set to introduce an annual fee of up to £12 for users whose accounts have been inactive for a year or more – but you can avoid the charge by logging into your account before the deadline in December.
PayPal defines “inactive” as an account where the user hasn’t sent, received or withdrawn money, or logged into their account.
From 16 December 2020, if your account has been inactive for over 12 months, you’ll be charged a fee which is the lesser of £12 or your entire PayPal balance. If you don’t have any money in your PayPal account, or your balance is negative, PayPal says you won’t be charged a fee (even if you have a credit or debit card linked to the account).
If you have a PayPal account but don’t regularly use it, you can avoid the fee by simply logging into your account (or making a transaction) on or before 15 December 2020.
This means you will have been “active” in the previous 12 months, so won’t be charged.
At this point, if you don’t use your PayPal account and don’t want to risk being charged in future, you can simply close the account (once you’re logged in, go to ‘Settings’ and select ‘Close your account’ at the bottom of the ‘Account’ tab – though note you’ll need to do this online, as you can’t close accounts through the app).

Reminder – A605 Road Works – Lindum Homes
Lindum Homes have built a new estate next to Aster cars on the A605 between Peterborough and Whittlesey. They had a lengthy closure earlier this year to facilitate all the connections in the highway outside the site.
Unfortunately the reinstatement is failing badly and they need to repair and fully reinstate the works.
Lindum Homes – 5 days –
07:00 Friday the 23rd October to 15:00 Tuesday the 27th October
Lindum homes require a single lane closure and two way traffic lights. Their proposed working hours will be 07:00 – 18:30 Friday to Monday and will only be working 09:30 to 15:00 on Tuesday 28th for white lining works using “Stop and Go” boards.
They will not start work till 09:00 on the Sunday. The lights will have to remain in place due to the depth of the works.
In addition they will be putting out advisory 30mph signs.
Expected disruption Significant
