We know that ‘Storey’s Bar Road’ is for-ever having fly-Tipping, one of the regulars nearby is along the Cycle Route 43 (The Green Wheel) – unfortunately many areas they tip is on private land which is the resposibility of the Landowner….this week 2 occasions have been reported.
This week Storey’s Bar Road was blocked because of Fly-tipping.

| Police in Cambridgeshire will be taking part in a national operation to tackle knife crime this week. The week-long operation aims to reduce knife related crime and tackle violence across the county. In Cambridgeshire, offences involving knives or sharp instruments rose 58 per cent from 908 incidents in 2018 to 1,436 incidents in 2019. Between January and October this year there have been 1,178 offences. On average, officers are arresting three people a week in Cambridgeshire for knife related offences (168 in 2018, 199 in 2019 and 168 between Jan-Oct 2020). Superintendent Robin Sissons said: “While offences involving knives have risen, Cambridgeshire’s figures are still below the national average and in line with a rise in offences across the country. “It’s simple; knives ruin lives. “People carrying knives, particularly young people, do so without understanding the real consequences of using them, the devastation it can cause to those who are seriously injured or fatally wounded, nor the impact on the families who have lost loved ones. For those of you that use Facebook, beware of a post which claims that Cadbury is giving away a free hamper to celebrate its 126th birthday, but media reporting states it is fake and could actually steal your private information including bank account details.
In other words it is a phishing communication, designed to offer something for nothing, and enticing you to click on a link which will lead you to a webpage that will look genuine, but is controlled by the criminal. The criminal loves it when you click and fill out the form, especially if they identify that you use the same password for more than one online account.
The internet reporting is as recent as a few hours ago, with some reporting dating back to May of this year. In summary, Cadburys are not offering a free hamper, and remember, don’t click on links within email, text, Messenger, WhatsApp or any similar instant message services unless you are confident the sender is genuine and this is not always easy.

Following on from Steve’s last update, the temporary access road on site, which will allow site traffic to access key locations to the west of the railway, is now complete which you can see in the picture on the right.
The excavation works to where the underpass will be built have been completed and preparation work for the construction of the railway bridge is underway – the picture on the left shows where the southern side of the bridge will be built.
Jones Bros are also importing material into section three of the scheme, which is north of the railway, this will be completed over the next two weeks and then efforts will be concentrated on constructing the embankment.

Finally, now we have entered a second national lockdown, I would like to reassure all residents that Jones Bros is fully complying with all UK Government guidance to ensure the safety of its workforce as well as the general public and work will continue.

Whittlesey Town Council (Clerk) is now back at work, however the Town Council Offices remain closed for the time being.
The Town Clerk can be contacted by telephone or e-mail during the hours of 09:30 – 16:30 Monday to Thursday and 09:30 – 15:30 on Fridays.
My correspondent informs me that it was an essential journey yesterday that took them to Hunstanton, he stated that he needed ‘fresh air’, ‘exercise’ and to ‘test his eyesight’ – they were not alone but the numbers on a cool sunny day was ‘low’ – they didn’t get out of their car and took their own food and drink.
A few take-aways were open and there was only 5 vehicles in the beach front car park.
Tesco’s Hunstanton car park was half full – Saturday afternoon.
