A message from Cllr Steve Count, Leader of Cambridgeshire County Council, said:
You may have seen the excellent news about how much King’s Dyke is investing into the local economy, in case you missed it please view it here

As Cllr Chris Boden mentioned in the last update, the focus on site is the two main structures: the bridge and the underpass.
You may recall that part of the bridge structure is the abutment, which connects the deck of the bridge with the ground and also supports the structure’s weight. There will be 12 columns in total (right picture) and the construction of steel reinforcement, which will combine with the concrete to provide additional strength (commonly known as reinforced concrete), is underway to the south of the railway.

For the underpass, the steel reinforcement is close to being completed and further formwork, which creates a temporary mould to allow concrete to be poured and set, is due to be installed next week.
I’m pleased to say Jones Bros has pulled together some more impressive drone footage and a picture below. You can really see how well the work is progressing – you can watch it here

Stay safe everyone and remember to stay at home.

Was This Jenner Post A Very Nasty Scam … Social Media…!

I am ware that a number of local residents were called late this afternoon, inviting them for a vaccination appointment (Jenner) and they all went and were seen too.
The Social Media Post it would appear was either incorrect or a very nasty Scam to dupe people into thinking they were getting theur jab early.
Lesson learnt – wait until you are contacted directly by post/text (be careful ) or by phone.

Flood Warning In Effect 231021z

Whittlesey Road to the South of the River Nene

Flooding is expected – immediate action required

Heavy rain that has fallen over the River Nene catchment over the last week, meaning that the Whittlesey Wash flood storage reservoir is being operated to protect nearby communities from flooding. The rising levels in the Wash have resulted in flooding of the B1040 road. Whilst the Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority may close the B1040 for safety reasons. Diversionary routes will be put in place, and further updates will be available through local media. This Flood Warning is expected to stay in force for a few days, until water levels recede. Please follow diversionary routes until the Local Authority re-open the road. We will be closely monitoring the situation, and this message will be updated on Sunday, 24th January, or as the situation changes.

Flood Warning – No Longer in Effect – North Bank Only 221135z

This is a message from the Environment Agency.
Flood Warning no longer in force: North Bank Road alongside the River Nene, east of Peterborough and west of Dog-in-a-Doublet Sluice.

The situation is improving and no further flooding is expected in this area.
Flood Warnings and Alerts may still be in force for surrounding areas.
Due to the low tides and improved forecast, Friday 22nd January, we are currently able to discharge water, and therefore further localised flooding at North Bank Road is not expected.
The road will be reopened once the Highways Authority have been able to inspect the road surface, and carry out any necessary works to ensure the road is passable.
