Todays Scam Alert
Bank Phishing Text Scam
A screenshot of the below scam text message they received which is designed to trick the recipient into providing their personal information.
The message purports to be from Lloyds Bank and claims that a new recipient has been added to the payees on the account and provides a link to click if you had not added the new payee.
The message in this example came from 07487 559281 and purported to be from Lloyds Bank in relation to a new payee Mrs Claire Lowell. But remember scams like this could come from other numbers, use a different new payee name or claim to be from other banks or companies such as Apple, PayPal, eBay and Amazon. Fraudsters will use many different guises to try to dupe as many people as possible.
Please remember never to click on links in unexpected texts or e-mails as these are likely to be ‘phishing’ for your information or ready to install malware on your device.
Forward scam texts to 7726.

EA – Flood Warning Still In Effect #2 @ 181006z (B1040)
Flooding is expected – immediate action required
Heavy rain fell over the River Nene catchment last week and the Whittlesey Wash flood storage reservoir is being operated to protect nearby communities from flooding. The rising levels in the Wash has resulted in flooding of the B1040 road. Whilst the Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority may close the B1040 for safety reasons. Diversionary routes will be put in place and further updates will be available through local media. This Flood Warning is expected to stay in force throughout this week until water levels recede. Please follow diversionary routes until the local authority re-open the road. We will be closely monitoring the situation, and this message will be updated by tomorrow,
Tuesday 19th January, or as the situation changes.

EA – Flood Warning Still In Effect #1 @ 181003z (North Bank)
Flooding is expected – immediate action required
Heavy rain has fallen over the River Nene catchment over the past week. During periods of high tide the river will be unable to discharge into the sea, resulting in tide lock conditions. This is likely to lead to localised flooding at North Bank Road from this morning, Monday 18th January onwards. Whilst the Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority will close North Bank Road. Diversionary routes will be put in place and further updates will be available through local media. This Flood Warning is expected to stay in force for several days until tide lock conditions improve. Please follow diversionary routes until the local authority re-open the road. We are operating the Dog-in-a-Doublet sluice to discharge water during low tide, and reduce the flood risk as much as possible. We will be closely monitoring the situation, and this message will be updated on Tuesday, 19th January, or as the situation changes.

The Latest Blight On Our Town & Villages…
It has been around for some time Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) – Hundreds and hundreds of discarded canisters blight the landscape.
I have not witnessed anyone using the stuff – but then again I am not out and about very much at present.
In the UK, N2O is the second most popular recreational drug after cannabis. In most countries, nitrous oxide is a legal drug that is widely available and cheap. Last month prevalence of use among clubbers and ravers ranges between 40 and almost 80 percent. Following one inhalation, mostly from a balloon, a euphoric, pleasant, joyful, empathogenic and sometimes hallucinogenic effect is rapidly induced (within 10 s) and disappears within some minutes. Recreational N2O use is generally moderate with most users taking less than 10 balloons of N2O per episode and about 80% of the users having less than 10 episodes per year. Side effects of N2O include transient dizziness, dissociation.
If these people are getting a kick out of N2O fine – but take your rubbish home with you….
The Neighbourhood Police Team are aware.

Fantastic Feedback – Jenner Health Centre – Vaccinations
Getting lots of very positive feedback on how well organised The Jenner Health Centre – rollout of COVID vaccinations are going, – we’re still waiting for New Queen Street to get cracking – remember the bulk of NQS patients will be ‘invited’ to go to the Stanground Surgery – why – we don’t know and they are not talking to any of us….
I also understand that Jenner are no longer taking any more patients who want to transfer from NQS….

Still been there, seen it and done it…..
One question was – the Sphinx was covered in scaffolding at the time….not in my photo….

Have Lessons Ever Been Learnt !!!!!!
“On hearing ill rumour that Londoners may soon be urged into their lodgings by His Majesty’s men, I looked upon the street to see a gaggle of striplings making fair merry, and no doubt spreading the Plague fair about.
Not a care had those rogues for the health of their elders”
Samuel Pepys Diaries London 1664
Samuel Pepys FRS was an administrator of the navy of England and Member of Parliament who is most famous for the diary he kept for a decade while still a relatively young man.
Samuel Pepys is famous for writing a diary. He started to write his diary in 1660 and continued writing it until 1669. His diaries tell us much about what life 350 years ago.
Samuel wrote about events in 17th century England – such as the plague of 1665, the Great Fire of London and Charles II’s coronation. He also wrote about some of the key figures of the era, including Sir Christopher Wren and Sir Isaac Newton.
