Another Flood Warning B1040 Whittlesey – Thorney
B1040 Thorney to Whittlesey Road to the South of the River Nene
Flooding is expected – immediate action required
Heavy rain has been falling on the River Nene catchment over the past 24 hours. The Whittlesey Wash flood storage reservoir is being operated to protect nearby communities from flooding. The rising levels in the Wash will result in flooding of the B1040 road. Whilst the Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority may close the B1040 for safety reasons. Diversionary routes will be put in place and further updates will be available through local media. This Flood Warning is expected to stay in force for the next dew days until water levels recede. Please follow diversionary routes until the local authority re-open the road. We will be closely monitoring the situation, and this message will be updated by tomorrow, Saturday 16th January, or as the situation changes.

Flood Alert – Lower Nene @150730z
Flood Alert in force: Lower Nene.
Flooding is possible for: River Nene between Wansford and the Dog-in-a-Doublet Sluice to the east of Peterborough.
Be prepared.
Over the last 24 hours we have seen heavy rainfall in the Lower River Nene area. This means that the River Nene is now rising, which will lead to flooding of low lying land and roads close to the river from the morning of Friday, 15th January onwards. We expect the river to remain high throughout the next few days. Our forecasts indicate that flooding to properties is possible and therefore flood warnings are expected to be issued. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. We are constantly monitoring river levels, and have staff in the field checking for blockages and clearing weedscreens.
This message will be updated tomorrow, Saturday, 16th January, or as the situation changes.

EA Flood Warning North Bank @ 141842z
Flooding is expected – immediate action required
Heavy rain has been falling on the River Nene catchment over the past 24 hours. During periods of high tide the river will be unable to discharge into the sea, resulting in tide lock conditions. This is likely to lead to localised flooding at North Bank Road from this evening on Thursday, 14th January onwards. Whilst the Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority will close North Bank Road. Diversionary routes will be put in place and further updates will be available through local media.
This Flood Warning is expected to stay in force for several days until tide lock conditions improve. Please follow diversionary routes until the local authority re-open the road. We are operating the Dog-in-a-Doublet sluice to discharge water during low tide, and reduce the flood risk as much as possible. We will be closely monitoring the situation, and this message will be updated by Friday, 15th January, or as the situation changes.
