WTC Meeting Thursday 22nd April (Response from MP Steve Barclay)

On the Agenda, this Thursday, I will be informing the Council and Public who attend several updates I have received in respect of ‘Issues & Concerns’ @ Saxon Pit.
The below is what has been received by us from MP Steve Barclay.

Steve had a constructive meeting with the Chief Executive of the Environment Agency, Sir James Bevan, to reinforce the community concerns regarding Saxon Pit and to request that sufficient resource and prioritisation is focussed on this issue within his organisation. Sir James was very clear that he recognises there is significant community concern and that his organisation is working to address this at pace. He also agreed with Steve that transparency is important,  particularly given the recent incident of water being discharged from Saxon Pit into Kings Dyke, and in respect of the planning applications that have been submitted. Steve will continue to liaise with local councillors to ensure relevant bodies are held to account in respect of this site.

The Agenda was published on this Web-blog 18th April

KD X News Update

A message from the King’s Dyke project team:

The earthworks (left picture) are ongoing on the eastern side of the railway, with additional material being imported over the next couple of weeks to complete this phase of activity.

One of two concrete abutments (centre picture) have now been poured for the railway bridge with the second due to be poured next week.
The partial filling of Star Pit is also nearly completed (right picture).

From 26 April, two-way traffic lights will be installed on the A605 to move a gas main underneath where the new road will align back onto the existing road.
They will be in place for a duration of four to five weeks and will be manually controlled by those on site during peak traffic hours to monitor the traffic flow.

As part of the planning stage for these works, Jones Bros and Cambridgeshire County Council have been co-ordinating with Peterborough City Council who are working at Pondersbridge at the same time to ensure that disruption along the A605 and local road network is minimised as much as practicable.
These works are unavoidable and have also been co-ordinated with the temporary traffic lights on the B1040. There will be signed diversion routes and we will carefully monitor traffic levels throughout.

We would like to thank you for your patience while these co-ordinated works take place as swiftly as possible.

Fake Council Home Improvement Texts

We’ve been contacted by a local resident concerned about a suspicious text message they received.
The text claims to be from ‘CouncilUK’ and asks the recipient whether they have any damp or issues in their home. The sender then claims to be offering home improvements and money back on rent. It asks the recipient to click a link.

Red flags that suggest this is not a genuine message are:

  • The text was unsolicited and was received out of the blue.
  • The sender ‘Council UK’ is not a genuine organisation.
  • The text includes a link to click. (We haven’t visited this link but it’s likely to ask for personal information including bank or card details which would then be used to steal money or it could infect your device with malware).
  • The text has a grammatical error as it starts a sentence with a lower case letter.

Beware any text message asking you to click a link, including where the message appears to be from a genuine organisation like NHS, HMRC, GOV.UK or a well known bank. Scammers can spoof the number of genuine organisations to make their communications look authentic.  It is best not to click on any link unless you know the message to be genuine.

Forward suspicious texts to 7726.

Suspicious e-mails can be forwarded to report@phishing.gov.uk Do not click on links or attachments.
