Community Safety Engagement Event

Community Safety Engagement Event
As coronavirus restrictions ease it is likely that we will all be spending less time at home, potentially putting ourselves at risk for home burglaries and theft, which occur more frequently in the late spring and summer months.
The Fenland Community Safety Partnership’s latest online engagement event on the topic of home and garden security features lots of information on the steps we can take to secure our properties, but also outlines the support that is available to older and vulnerable residents from organisations such as The Bobby Scheme.

The event is available to watch now on Fenland District Council’s YouTube channel.

Kind regards
Linda

Helipads For Hospitals

Whittlesey Town Council has supported this fantastic initiative.
Some may have seen the ‘wrecked’ helipad at Addenbrookes this week on Anglia News.

How many cans are needed?
We have recently reviewed our earliest estimates about how many cans we will need for each helipad. We know a helipad will require about 80 tonnes of aluminium. We are now working on the basis of the charity needing about 5.7 million cans for each helipad.

From the Fenland Youth Radio Newsroom
Frankie Newbatt officially launches the brand new can crusher which is situated in the Ivy Leaf Car Park Whittlesey. On hand with Frankie to welcome this new addition to the town was John Nowell Founder of the charity Helipads for Hospitals who will benefit from the crushed cans .
Frankie raised the funds for the crusher through sponsored events.

Meet MP Steve Barclay & Metro Mayor James Palmer.

Yesterday (Friday) knowing that MP Steven Barclay was to visit Whittlesey, I went to the Market Square in order to have my 5/10 minutes time frame with him.
I have met MP Steve Barclay on many occasions, and he has always dealt with issues I have brought to his attention, given to me by members of the public or electors within the WTC ward I represent.
As I have already reported within my ‘Council Report’ in the previous post he has had a meeting with the Environment Agency CEO in regard to ‘Issues and Concerns’
at The Saxon Pit.

He is also very aware of the inpending Planning Application for the proposed Recycling Plant within the ‘Saxon Pit’ and the implications of what residents have flagged up.

I was also fortunate to have a second meet up Metro Mayor James Palmer who is standing for re-election on May 06th. Although outside his remit, I brought him up to speed in regards to the ‘Issues and Concerns’ at Saxon Pit.
However it is within his remit in respect of infra-structure and that is our A605 – being impacted by congestion/pollution and volume.

As previously reported and commented on, the ‘Fuse’ has been lit in respect of  ‘A relief road’ – a long long way to go…..We also toughed on Carbon Neutral and Environmental issues locally.
