The Whittlesey ‘Buttercross’ suffered some minor damage to the tiling/roofing recently and has been fenced off for safety reasons.

The ‘Buttercross’ is classified as an ancient monument and as such any repairs has to carried out under conditions.

I have now had a further update advising that the contractors have now managed to get the correct tiles for the roof and the job will be completed by 14 November and the fencing removed.

Cllr Kay Mayor has been the lead on getting the repairs carried out as timely as possible.

Ottomans Take-away/Broad Street, which suffered major fire some moths ago and has been fenced off causing some considerable inconvienience to both traffic and pedestrians.
There has I understand been issues surrounding ‘Insurance’, however this week there has been some activity in/around the building. Traffic lights remain in place.

Old ‘Nat West’ Building/Market Street, also has arris fencing around it – again has roffing issues.
It has been in this state for a number of years and I am aware that Fenland District Council have been on the case.
I inderstand that communicating with the owner (who lives abroad) is somewhat ‘challenging’ – the only other way is for FDC to pay for the repairs in the ‘hope’ to recover the costs.

The Old ‘Nat West’ Building is within the conservation area.

From a correspondent :- With the news being somewhat swamped with Climate News, it is somewhat surprising that in their latest report CPCA (Cambridges & Peterborough Combined Authority) earlier this year. I have attached a copy.
Pages 1 – 31 provide an executive summary then the rest of the report unwinds.
Mayor Nik Johnson supports this report, but he also needs to get the other members to support it.
You may be aware that the two abstentions in March received ‘some flack’ from residents who felt their views were not being represented.
The lone vote against was Cllr Boden.

Lots of reading, however the first 30 pages takes a short time (summary).

Amazing how Whittlesey/Peterborough/Cambs, usually comes out at the bottom end of most surveys, not this case we’re 25% better at emitting/polluting CO2 than anywhere else in the country…. Roy G…

First attempt to get away from the UK – birthday for Roy in one of our favourite european destinations – Madeira.

The official minutes of this meeting will be published when ratified by the full council, normally 1 month after the meeting.
These are my own observations.

The main planning issue this evening was that of the ‘Domino Pizza’ illuminated signage.
Putting is bluntly almost a mini Blackpool Illumination, within a conservation area, nearby the War Memorial and light pollution for residents living in very close proximity.
I hope Fenland Planning take onboard the comments made this evening.

Also noted although not on the agenda was the very inconsiderate builders who are making local residents life a misery, including working all over the weekend.
Domino – you are not being very friendly…….Sorry – but I’ve never had a Domino’s Pizza in my life…..Have I missed something !!!!!
