Over 100 Victims Rescued

Statistics have revealed more than 100 victims of modern slavery have been rescued in Cambridgeshire in the last year.

Of those rescued, more than half were children. Thankfully, they all escaped the awful situations they were trapped in and are now receiving specialist support.

This Anti-Slavery Day we wanted to highlight that the issue is not resigned to the past – it is still happening in 2021. It could be taking place at a local business or on your street. From car washes to nail bars and the agricultural industry, slavery can take place pretty much anywhere.

Many of the rescued children were trapped in the dark world of county lines drug dealing where they were forced to sell substances for those controlling them.

Please take a minute to find out more about the signs of modern slavery and report any concerns in your community.

KD X Update

A message from the King’s Dyke project team:

The deck of the railway bridge (pictured left) has been waterproofed and is ready for the next step, the installation of kerbs and ducts.

Work on the ducting between the bridge and the eastern tie-in (pictured right) is nearing completion, with more kerbs to be installed in the coming week.

Meanwhile, work on the drainage system between the underpass and the western tie-in will continue for the next few weeks.

Finally, we’d like to hear from you – we have launched a comms survey to gather feedback and opinions from local residents, businesses and commuters about the King’s Dyke project. We’d be grateful if you could please complete the short survey
here:
