Church Street Issue….

This was the damage done on the 22nd April.
A very ‘temporary’ steel plate was placed over the man-hole (not very satisfactory).
On Saturday 23rd there were traffic lights in place and a large number of EDF personnel
working. When I next saw the path on Monday the steel plate was still there and some repairs to both the path and a foot of road about a metre from the manhole was observed.
Yesterday Tuesday the complete road was closed (no notice given to anyone) and mayhem along the road – including myself having to make a detour via Glassmoor Bank/Pondersbridge. I am not sure if the road closeure was in place overnight.
I am informed that at 11:00 this morning all was clear. I will check in a short while.
(The utilities/authorities can close roads without notice in the case of an emergency)

Many Commented To Me – It Won’t Last !!!!!
‘Someone’ in their wisdom installed a ‘Bollard’ on Church Street Corner on the 22/03/22
some of us have been asking for something substantial on this dangerous corner, without, as far as I am aware consulting our local Council, a concrete bollard was installed – many said to me ‘That won’t last long’ – Lo-behold today it lays in the footpath.

KD X Update 250422
A message from the King’s Dyke project team:
We have been laying the final layer of tarmac – the surface course – around the western roundabout (pictured far left and right), and traffic will be moved permanently onto the roundabout from 3 May.
Traffic lights will be needed for a week to allow the western tie-in works by Funthams Lane to be completed, while the new bus stops will also come into use on 3 May.
The embankment works on the site have progressed well, with the section closest to the railway bridge now completed.
This has allowed work to start on the construction of the reinforced concrete slabs (centre picture), which will form the foundations for the edge protection that extends out from the bridge

Brilliant St Georges Day – Peterborough Concert Band.
Almost a sell out – City of Peterborough Concert Band – Conductor Henry Clydesdale, gave a fantastic rendition of the ‘Posthorn Gallop’ – a wonderful evenings entertainment all in aid of charity. Well done and thanks to Whittlesey Indoor Bowls Club.
ps;-The 3 yard Union Flag and 3 yard Red Ensign (Red Duster) are mine on loan – they are used flags made in the UK some 40+ years ago.
