Movie Evenings By U3A

Whittlesey’s Winter Cinema Evenings Return!!

We are pleased to announce that the fortnightly series of movie evenings return to Queen S.t Church from Saturday 1st October. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7 o/c start.
As usual there will be an intermission for refreshments.

Showing on that evening is “The Duke” – a true story starring Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren.
No actual admission charges are made BUT, with the spiralling rises to energy charges we ask please that you donate as generously as you can so that we are able to offset operating costs, i.e. heating / lighting / refs / video licence, etc.
Last winter numbers were generally down on previous years. We will monitor the situation to the year end and make a decision on whether continuation into 2023 is sustainable.
If you value this local amenity please tell all your friends about us! Regulars have said to us how much they enjoy these friendly, warm and welcoming evenings, including the intervals where they can to chat with friends over a drink and biscuits, so please come along in your numbers to enable us to continue throughout the winter months!
You are assured of a very warm welcome!

15th Oct – “Belfast”

29th Oct – “Death on the Nile”

12th Nov – “Downton Abbey – A New Era”

26th Nov – “Operation Mincemeat”

10th Dec – “The Road Dance”

Cambs News Website  Click Here

Books of condolences for Queen Elizabeth II are available to sign at every Cambridgeshire library today (Friday, September 9). Residents of the county are invited to pen well wishes for Her Majesty, whose death was announced to the nation yesterday, and her grieving family.

As well as the books of condolence available to sign in person, Cambridgeshire County Council has also established an online service for people to leave their tributes to the Queen. Many have already left sweet messages for the royal family and you can add yours by clicking here.

You can also sign the official book of condolences on the royal family’s website. A selection of messages from this book will be passed on to the royals and kept in the royal archives.

From The Whittlesey Ministry Team.

Good evening.

We are all deeply saddened by the news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II today.

The Queen has been a beacon to us all of Christian faith and public service. We give thanks to God for the impact that she has had on us all, and the world.

We join now as a community and as a nation in mourning and prayer, especially for the Royal Family, including His Majesty King Charles III.

This Sunday, 11th September there will be one service taking place in our church community. It will be at 10:30AM in Saint Mary’s Church, Whittlesey. You are welcome to invite friends and neighbours if they’d like to attend.

Until then, all our church buildings are open for private prayer during the day on Friday and Saturday. St. Mary’s, St. Andrew’s and Holy Trinity from 9AM to 4PM; St. Thomas from 11AM to 4PM.

God bless,
Reverend Emily Davis,
Priest-in-Charge.
