When Will The Vandalism End #2

In the past few months – the ‘Garden of Rest’ on Station Road, which is very well maintained by FDC and Volunteers from ‘In Bloom’ has be subjected to many instances of mindless vandalism…I stopped by the gardens last week at 20:30 and there were some 15 youths playing football and running over the flower beds!. I asked them ‘politely to stop and explained the significance of the area (religious & ex graveyard) – sorry it would appear said youths did not understand and carried on playing football.

As I have reported there appeared grafitti, antisemitic and sexual graphics  on the pathways.
Further damage has been done to the flower beds.
This week ‘someone’ was preparing to steal the memorial bench, it was spotted and action has been taken to make it more secure.
‘Someone had a go within a day at the newly installed ‘Platinum Jubilee Bench’

The Garden of Rest will be locked – it will open for limited hours but certainly closed in the evenings until early mornings. Today it was locked all day.
(The decision made by FDC who own the site)

The main concern is that those responsible (dare I mention who they maybe? – and get forever ‘trolled’ on social media) will move to another area….Someone knows who is responsible – be a concerned resident report them to either the Police or Crime-Stoppers.

When Will The Vandalism End #1

For some 12 months the Public Toilets behing the ‘George’ wre closed because of persistent vandalism…nothing new.

The very first day the toilets were re-opened – a complete light fitting was ripped from the ceiling. Within 3 days 2 of the doors were damaged with something substantial.
Now again they will remain closed (I have no idea for how long) –
Have an issue please contact Fenland District Council – they are the authority responsible for looking after the Public Toilets.

Note:- There is no legal requirement for Councils to have Public Toilets.

Excellent NHW Meeting….

Visit Whittlesey NHW Website:- https://www.whittleseynhw.org.uk/

11 Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators met last night @ Peel House, we were joined by Fenland Neighbourhood Police – PC Gary Stabler, who gave the group an insight and updates on what he and some of the team are addressing within our area.
They are very much ‘aware’ of the almost daily issues of vandalism in our town.

Secretary Robin Sutton gave the insights to National NHW Community Saftey Charter.

The group discused the crime statistics (published monthly on this web-blog).
Chairman Roy Gerstner emphasized the importance of reporting all incidents, without
any reports there are no records…..

Chief Superintendent of Cambridgeshire – Nick Dean, is very supportive of NHW.

If you would like to join the largest community group in the UK ….please visit.
