Missed Appointments @ NQS

Even before the Pandemic – on average there were 4 to 5 missed appointments at New Queen Street Surgery – EVERY DAY…. sometimes for what-ever reason an appointment cannot be made – why not inform the Surgery and they would be happy to offer that time slot to another patient.
So post Pandemic and the situation with getting a Doctors appointment (Gold dust) has changed – there are still many missed appointments with the Nurses.

Hoax 999 Calls…..

Within a two week period, our call handlers recorded 31 hoax calls to 999.
Sadly, this means that our response to genuine emergencies is delayed as operators are tied up dealing with the inappropriate calls.

999 should only be called when a crime is in progress, when there is danger to life or when violence is being used or threatened.

We urge you to educate young children about the serious dangers of making a hoax call. Misuse of 999 and hoax calls are a criminal offence which could result in a maximum penalty of up to six months in prison or a fine of £5,000.

If you need to report a crime, ask operators for advice or report someone you know hoax calling police, you can do so through our 24/7 web chat service

Updated – A Quick Word In The Chief Constables Ear!

As I am covering the Council Offices today, I was fortunate to have a couple of minutes with Nick Dean and highlighted some of the good things as well as those not so, I asked if we could have a dedicated full time PCSO as we have had before and he informed me that he is recruiting more PCSO’s.

Just as Mr Dean wanted to leave – some ‘idiot’ parked on ‘double yellow lines’ had blocked his car and he couldn’t get out, RW went to ‘Domino’s’ and found the driver and told them who they had blocked in – They moved their car PDQ –  I doubt very much if the Chief Constable of Cambridgeshire carries a book of parking tickets with him?

Now Peel House – WTC Offices.

Having A Go…(Again)

On Sunday at Music on the Square, I was approached by an aggrieved resident who asked me what ‘we’ were doing about Inhams Road and Station Road in respect of HGV’s. I tried to explain to Mr M that I am a Town Councillor and Highways comes under a County Councillor remit, however I was up to speed and well aware of the ‘issues and concerns’ of both Inhams Road and Station Road.
I tried to explain, that the strategic Highways route was formulated many years ago by various agencies and it has been the perfered route coming from the A605 to the industial area – not ideal by any means but until a ‘relief road’ is considered/built, there is very little that can be done. Mr M was not impressed at all and thinks a better route should be directed through Eastrea – realy – has he been to Whype Road or Mayfield Road – plus there is a weight limit in place?
So because the answer (facts) that I gave to Mr M didn’t ‘suit’ his agurment he went off in a huff….. I am sorry Mr M, maybe a bit of research on your behalf may have been a better starting point.
I will take the issues he raise to the County Councillor – that is my remit.

ps Mr M lives on Marne Road off Station Road – Not my ward area, maybe his own Councillor(s) could answer his questions…..
