Concerned About Health & Wellbeing – Take The Survey

This survey is for our ‘local’ ICS – Intregated Care Service, it may influence them on providing services, we all know there is a severe shortage of GP’s/Doctor – then say so.
The survey takes between 5 and 10 minutes.

Update ALL CPCA Monies Going Option ‘2’

At their meeting (Wednesday) – (Growing Fenland – Whittlesey Committee) to determine the future of £455,000 left from unspent budget for the now no go Heritage Centre.

As you are all aware both Councillor/Leader (WTC) David Mason and myself put forward a request that ALL the money be spend within The Manor Area, to kick-start a regeneration of the area for sports/environmental and youth support.

Thank you to all those who contacted myself and Cllr Mason 95% of whom supported our proposals.

Cllr Mason attended the ‘virtual’ meeting yesterday afternoon acting as the substitute for the sitting WTC Councillor Munns who was unable to attend.
Cllr Mason put forward our case, there was no seconder to the proposal and the Committee put forward their own plan, whereby some of the monies ‘could’ be spent on the Manor, but the rest and on –

  • Southern Relief Road
  • Exhibiting some of the Must Farm finds at the library.

Levelling the Market Square to provide a safer area for events.

The ‘bulk’ of the money being spent on Consultants to produce the next stage of the Southern Relief Road. (A report) – Their proposal was voted through…..

Whilst I accept the democratic result – it is disappointing – We move onwards and flight for this for our future on another day.

The Growing Fenland (Whittlesey Committee on Thursday) consisted of Cllr Boden, Cllr Laws and member of the public Martin Curtis)

The Fenland Diverse Communities Forum

I was invited to attend this ‘virtual’ meeting today, as was all other WTC Councillors.
I was the only WTC to attend.

This group has been going for sometime and I have on occasion joined in.
It was ‘mainly’ about – you guessed it – Wisbech – well 99% of it.
The support via The Rosimini Centre is absolutely fantastic, they also have
The Queen Mary Centre, The Ferry Project and other support area’s in terms of ‘People, Council and Volunteer’s to help support their Community along with local Councullors.

We of course in Whittlesey have nothing to compare with, our wonderful Volunteer’s running the Whittlesey Emergency Food Bank and other Community Groups.
Whittlesey Town Council have financially supported many local organisations.

The only mention that was raised was The Phoenix Youth Group, again run by Volunteers
who have steamed full ahead over the past year.
I and a few others can not and do not have the resources at our disposal that Wisbech has.

A Very Good Meeting Saxongate/FDC/WTC

This afternoon the planned Saxongate Residents Group, met at Whittlesey Town Council, the agenda concerned ongoing issues at/around the Saxon works, the compliance of planning regulations and future engagements working with the companies operating from the site.
It was the first time that all interested parties sat around a table, which included 2 Officers from Fenland District Council,
the Environment Agency and a Planning Officer from FDC.
Representing Saxongate were 3 members of their committee and for Council, present were
Cllr Mason (Chair), Cllr Miscandlon, Cllr Boden and Myself Roy G.
I believe we all came away with some positive ways forward.

Thieves Steal 23 Catalytic Converters In Just One Week

We’re encouraging you to look out for suspicious activity, specifically in car parks, after 23 catalytic converters were stolen in just one week.

Over the past week thieves have targeted vehicles parked in the Trumpington, Madingley and Longstanton Park and Ride sites, together with the Queen Anne car park in Cambridge and the car parks at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

Catalytic converters are found in the exhaust system of every car and reduce the output of toxic gases and pollutants.

It takes just minutes for thieves to remove them and on many occasions, victims are unaware initially until starting their vehicle that they have been targeted.

Detective Chief Inspector Alan Page said: “This type of crime is extremely disruptive for the victims, and it is particularly despicable that these individuals have targeted cars at hospital car parks where people are attending for appointments or to visit a poorly relative or friend.

“Targeted patrols by dedicated officers are taking place, but we also need the public’s help.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was at any of those locations in the past week and may have noticed any suspicious behaviour or vehicles. We would also like to hear from anyone who may have information about who is stealing catalytic converters and where they are being sold.

“These offences are taking place in broad daylight. If you are using a public car park, business car park or a Park and Ride site please be aware of people jacking up vehicles or laying underneath them with a running vehicle parked nearby.

“Call us on 999 with descriptions of those involved and the make/model and registration number of the vehicle they are using.”

Between 1 January and today (25 October) there have been 400 catalytic converter thefts in the south of the county (East Cambs, Huntingdonshire, Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire).

To keep your catalytic converter safe, you can ask your car dealer for advice on locks or guards that are approved by the vehicle manufacturer and tested to Sold Secure Gold.

Alternatively, try to make sure your vehicle is parked in a garage overnight, or if you have a commercial vehicle, park it in a secure compound.

If this isn’t possible, park in an area that’s well-lit and overlooked and try to park so that the converter can’t be easily reached by potential thieves. Vehicles that sit high above the road are particularly vulnerable.

You should also register your converter and mark it with a forensic marker, which will make it harder for thieves to dispose of.

In recent months, the force has marked the catalytic converters on around 200 vehicles so they can be identified if stolen and sold on.

Exclusive Insight Into Life as a 999 Call Handler

If you have ever wondered what a typical Friday night looks like for a police emergency call handler, you’re in luck.

Cambridgeshire Constabulary are going to be offering the public a glimpse into the heart of policing as part of International Control Room Week.

We will be taking to Twitter on Friday 28th October, where we will be live Tweeting about every emergency call we receive between 4pm-11pm.

Detective Superintendent Michael Branston said “this will be the third year that we have celebrated International Control Room Week by providing the public with a snapshot of the many and varied calls my team of dedicated call handlers deal with. Friday nights are usually busy, and I fully expect our social media followers to be surprised by the volume but also really interested in the different types of demand we deal with each day.”

Be sure to tune in on Friday 28th, and follow us on Twitter (@CambsCops) in advance so you don’t miss out.
