New Police Recruits Welcomed to Cambs
We have welcomed 21 new police officer recruits to the force and we continue to look for people to follow in their footsteps.
Do you know someone who would make a good police officer?
These officers gave up jobs including tour guide, engineer, bar-tender and support worker for autistic children, while others were students.
We have three different routes to becoming a police officer and you can apply today.

Or if you’d prefer to find out more then come to our recruitment evening next month at force HQ, where you can meet people from a wide variety of roles within the constabulary, including dog handlers and road policing officers.

Councillors Are Just As Frustrated – Road Works….
After the reported burst water main Halcroft/A605 last Friday – confusion, frustration and very annoyed residents and road users.
Our Councillors were well contacted by Saturday morning and were trying desperately to make contact with Cambs CC Highways.
Sunday and Monday ongoing issues – All I was told was contact was still trying to be made.
Water main fixed, but Road Closure and signage still in place – which caused even more complaints…..
You know how it works…..
One team come to assess the job.
One team (not the same) come to put signs & traffic lights up
One team digs the holes.
One team fixes the problem.
Another team fills in the holes.
Another team checks the works.
Another team takes the signage & traffic lights away.
I am just as frustrated…..

A605 All back To Normal
Surprised !!!!- no one calls or tells me when the road is clear?
Checked early this morning and all repairs completed and Yes – the Road Signage has been taken away – all of it – none left behind – thank you.

Apologies Needed….
Unbeknown to me and most residents, was there were (2) events held at The War Memorial last week, (1) a minutes silence to honor the Queens passing and another (2) w minutes silence at 4pm on Monday.
I am a very big supporter of the Royal British Legion, who I understand had ‘organised’ these events…..No good saying it was put on Facebook™ ….many do not follow certain social media sites…..This was a very poor communication and has left many of us disappointed that we were unable to take part.

My Donation To Sir Harry Smith School 1997
25 years ago, I ‘inherited’ a special print of ‘The Queen’ by the artist Pietro Annigoni.
I gave it to Sir Harry Smith School in 1997 and it hung in/around the Headmasters Office for many years. When Principal Jonathan Digby retired 3 years ago, I asked him whether they still had it, he said it had been put in storage whilst the school underwent renovations.
All history now – pity I didn’t take a photo at the time.
RIP

The 1955 painting was commissioned by the City of London livery company, the Worshipful Company of Fishmongers. It was first displayed in 1955 and later loaned by the Fishmonger’s Company in 1958 and 1986 before the National Portrait Gallery’s 2012 exhibition. It is displayed at their livery hall, Fishmongers’ Hall, adjacent to London Bridge

A Time Of Reflection

A National Moment of Reflection to mourn the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and reflect on her life and legacy will be held on Sunday 18 September at 8pm.
The one-minute silence can be marked privately at home, with friends and family, out on doorsteps or in the street with neighbours, or at locally arranged community events and vigils

Updated – Today at Sandringham
The A149 from Kings Lynn was heavy traffic in both directions, this was at 11:00am
Took around an hour from KL to getting parked.
Returning 15:30 usual Friday traffic around KL.
Connie and I visited Sandringham today, unable and not viable to visit London.
Joining us, around a thousand members of the public paid respects to our departed Queen. We were fortunate that the queue was only around 10 minutes walk to the Gates.
The floral tributes went for 50 metres beyond the Norwich Gate.
Very well organised.
